Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi have welcomed their first child together through adoption.

The happy couple, who tied the knot in a private ceremony in May 2024, made the announcement on Instagram on Thursday (21 August).

In a joint-post, the pair said they had welcomed their ‘sweet baby girl’ this summer and are ‘beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy’.

Before the adoption, the Stranger Things star, 21, revealed that she was looking forward to becoming a young mother.

During a 10 March appearance on the SmartLess podcast alongside Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes, Brown revealed that her parents were also young and around her age when they had her.

"I'm still really young, but my mum actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19, and you know, it's been my thing since before I met Jake," she said.

"I wanted to be a mum just like the way my mum was to me and, my grandmother is, she was a huge part of my life."

The British actor said Jake, 23, ‘knows how important it is to me’, but acknowledged that she still wants to focus on ‘establishing’ herself in the TV and film industry.

"And of course I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it's so important to start a family," she added.

"For me personally, like, it's a huge thing."

Brown continued: "I don't see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting.

"For me, like, my home is full of love for anyone and anything, and so that is what we stand by, Jake and I - our energy in the house is like, 'The door is always open.'"

While fans have been sending their well wishes on social media, some have shared their concerns about having kids so young.

Over on Reddit, one person wrote: "It feels like these two are moving like they’re running out of time or something. She just turned 21 a few months ago. Having said that, good luck to them. Adopting a child is admirable at any age."

Another joked: "Adopting a kid at her age? She’s literally Eleven."

A third commented: "No shade, but I genuinely thought adoptive parents would have to be older than 21. The age requirement for renting a car is higher."

Others also reiterated that the pair have the resources to make it work.

"You know what, good for them. I’m almost 40 and have never wanted the responsibility of kids, but she’s always seemed like someone who adores kids and can’t wait to start a family. I wish them the best!!" someone else said.

While one user simply wrote: "Good for them."
