Molly Ringwald opens up about 'worst' job due to working with ‘one person that was really difficult’
Molly Ringwald has opened up about the ‘worst’ project she ever worked on that was ruined by a ‘difficult’ co-worker.
Ringwald shot to fame in the 1980s as one of the ‘Brat Pack’ after appearing in classic movies including Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles.
Since then the actor, now 58, has made dozens of appearances on both the big and small screen, but one project stands out for the wrong reasons.
Speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ringwald was asked to rank her past work putting her favourite in tenth place and her least favourite first.

“The worst is one?” Ringwald asked before confirming that drama series The Secret Life of the American Teenager had earned that title.
“That was it. The worst,” she added.
Ringwald continued: “It was a hard, I mean… OK, I love the cast. I love Shailene Woodley.”
However, she said one person on set was responsible for making it her worst work experience.
“There was one person that was really difficult. And I’m not gonna say who that one person is [but] they brought it down to a one,” she admitted.
Ringwald appeared in almost 100 episodes of the show across its five season run between 2008 and 2013.
In the series, Ringwald played Anne Juergens, the mum of Amy Juergens (played by Woodley) who became pregnant at just 15.
The long running series followed Amy and her family as they navigated life with the newborn.
On the other side of the coin, Ringwald said Pretty in Pink was her favourite project to work on.
“That was pretty great. I’ll give that a 10,” Ringwald said.
“It was written for me. [John Hughes] wrote the movie for me and, you know, I actually have a collage that I made myself that’s in the bedroom.”
Ringwald turned down a role in Ghost
Elsewhere in the interview, Ringwald revealed that she turned down Demi Moore’s role in Ghost saying it was the one project she regrets turning down.
She added: “But Demi is great in it. So, good for Demi. She did a great job.”
Cohen then appeared to throw a little salt in the wound by noting that the role ‘would have changed the entire trajectory’ of her career.
“I know,” Ringwald said, adding: “It was just was not meant to be.”
Ringwald has previously spoken about a couple of other iconic movies she missed out on.
In an interview with Variety in 2024, she revealed: “I got really close on a couple movies. I met with Mike Nichols for Working Girl and Jonathan Demme for The Silence of the Lambs, but ultimately I was too young.”
She added: “Even though I wanted to take on adult material, I was limited because I was still a teenager.”
In more recent years, Ringwald has appeared in several critically-acclaimed TV series, including Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and the multi-award winner The Bear.
Talking about her appearance in The Bear, she shared: “There were a lot of people that didn’t even recognize me, which to me is the biggest compliment.”
