MrBeast has become one of the most recognisable names in the world thanks to his outlandish YouTube videos, but his massive net worth isn't reflected in his bank accounts.

The 27-year-old, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has built up a loyal following of nearly 500 million followers on the video-sharing site, where he has helped produce some of the most-watched content on the internet, often giving away an extraordinary amount of money in the process.

Everyone of a certain age will have sat down to take in at least one of MrBeast's many videos, whether you prefer him challenging a close friend to lose 100lbs by living in a gym, his gigantic recreation of Squid Game, or his more philanthropic ideas, which have included planting trees or bringing clean water to two million people in Malawi.

Content creators across the world are continuing to rake in the big bucks, but in MrBeast's case, he keeps very little of it himself, despite officially confirming his billionaire status in 2025.

While he suggested back then that he had less than a million in his bank account (how did he cope), he's gone one step further in 2026 to claim that he now has 'negative money' in his personal account, due in part to an obsession with reinvesting what he earns into bigger and crazier videos.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, he said: “It's funny talking about my personal finances because no one ever believes anything I say.

"Because they're like, 'You're a billionaire!' I'm like, 'That's net worth'.”

Donaldson struck a deal with Amazon Prime worth a reported $100 million to show Beast Games, while he also owns more than half of his $5 billion company, Beast Industries, but apparently that doesn't stop him from utilising his overdraft like us ordinary folk.

He continued: “I have negative money right now, I'm borrowing money. That's how little money I have.

"Technically, everyone watching this video has more money than me, and their bank account if you subtract the equity value of my company, which doesn't buy me McDonald's in the morning or whatever.

"Why do I choose to keep it that way? I don't know, I just don't really think of it.

"I wake up, I just work and I don't know, I'm just so busy working.

"I don't really think about my personal bank account, if that makes sense.

"I'm just laser focused on making the greatest deals possible and building the business as big as possible."

His videos only look likely to get bigger and better, although he has faced some backlash for some particularly dangerous videos, including one which saw him trap a man inside a burning house for the chance to win £370k.
