Orlando Bloom makes fresh comments about return to Pirates of the Caribbean

Grab your rum and pirate hats, we might be back in the cinemas pirates

Orlando Bloom has made new comments about the possibility of returning to one of his most legendary roles.

Yes, Pirates of the Caribbean, obviously.

It’s been eight years since the fifth film in the series - Dead Men Tell No Tales - was released, with Bloom only in the opening and closing scenes.

And despite it being so long, there seems to have been a lot more noise about a return of the iconic Pirates movies recently with a producer even saying he reckons star Johnny Depp would do it on one condition.

A sixth film has actually been long in the making, with it reported back in the summer of 2020 that Disney was in early development of two new Pirates movies.

But it seems that now, despite barely appearing in the previous two, Bloom is particularly jumping onto ship.

Appearing at Fan Expo Chicago, the Will Turner actor said there’s just two key conditions: the story and the cast.

“Everything is in the writing, right? Everything is on the page, and I think there’s definitely, I’m sure there’s a way to create something,” he said. “I would personally love to see everybody back. I think the way to win on that one is to get everybody back. If they can, and if everybody wanted to go back.”

And ‘everyone’ would of course include Depp, who was previously said to have been ‘blocked’ from appearing in a new Pirates film during his trials with Amber Heard and ruled himself out.

But franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently revealed he’d spoken to the Captain Jack Sparrow star about a role in the sixth film as he reckons the actor ‘would do it’.

“If he likes the way the part’s written, I think he would do it,” the producer told EW.

“It’s all about what’s on the page, as we all know. We are still working on a screenplay. We want to make it. We’ve just got to get the right screenplay. We haven’t quite gotten there yet, but we’re close.”

Sorry, can we hear the tune of Hans Zimmer’s ‘He’s a Pirate’ on its way?

Bloom continued at the Expo: “My thing is, if the script was great and — ideally it was everybody — it’d be kind of like in for a penny, in for a pound, you know.”

But the actor did note is that there is still thoughts over just ‘how to do it’.

“Do you bring in a female leading character that replicates Jack in some way? I don’t know. The jury is out on how to do it again, but if [the script] was great, [I’d be in],” he added.
