Ozzy Osbourne ‘played prank’ on daughter as she sang at his funeral

One celebrity attendee said it was like he was 'having fun with her'

Despite the immense sadness from family, friends, and the music world at Ozzy Osbourne's funeral, the Prince of Darkness was seemingly determined to keep them laughing.

On 22 July 2025, the Black Sabbath frontman died at the age of 76 at his home in Buckinghamshire, UK. According to his death certificate, the musician died of a heart attack, which was described as 'acute myocardial infarction' and 'out-of-hospital cardiac arrest'.

He'd previously been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019.

A public funeral procession took place through Osbourne's home city of Birmingham, where his family, including his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and his kids, Kelly, Jack, Aimee, and Louis Osbourne, were all spotted wearing touching tributes to the rocker.

Before his death, Osbourne had previously said that he'd wanted his funeral to be a 'celebration, not a mope-fest', and it seems that he may have gotten his wish, according to one celebrity attendee.

Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo attended the ceremony, and he suggested that Ozzy might have had a divine intervention as Kelly took to the stand to perform a musical tribute to her father.

Speaking on the Trunk Nation Show, he said: "It was a small group of people, but very beautiful. It was very sad, but at the same time, some of the speeches were pretty funny.

"It had been raining at the beginning of the service for longer than an hour before.

"And then as it sort of progressed through the service, the weather would change and different things would happen, like when Kelly was singing, her lyrics flew (away). "Like the wind blew her lyrics away. It was almost like Ozzy was having fun with her."

Trujillo also described the moment that Black Sabbath member, Geezer Butler, first addressed the crowd as 'magical'.

He added: "There were a lot of tears with Sabbath, especially with Geezer. Geezer broke down in tears. He had a hard time, obviously, speaking.

"When Geezer spoke, the sun came out. I am not kidding, and then it was beautiful from that moment on. There were magical moments.

"And all of a sudden, there was laughter, and ‘I remember this’, ‘I remember that’. There were so many stories. So it felt like there was a closure from this.

"And I’m glad that we went — my wife Chloe and I went — and shared that and were able to have that moment with the family and everything.

"So it was very beautiful. And again, heartfelt words from so many people and kind of reconnecting with different musicians and bandmates, crew members, all that."
