The death certificates of Rob and Michele Reiner have revealed some heartbreaking new details about their death.
Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Hollywood home on December 14, and their son Nick Reiner was later arrested in connection with the tragedy.
He has been charged with two separate counts of first-degree murder and, while he has not yet made a plea in the case, California DA Nathan Hochman has confirmed they may even seek the death penalty.
Rob, a world-renowned director, and Michele, a famous singer and photographer, were found after a masseuse was unable to get into their home ahead of an appointment with the director.

After calling their daughter Romy, she let herself in and found her father dead in bed. She was later informed by paramedics that her mother was also dead.

The death certificate lists the time of death for both as 3.45pm and 3.46pm on December 14, with Rob’s body having been found before Michele.
One heartbreaking detail however is that, due to the order they found the bodies, their death certificates list Rob as ‘married’ and Michele as ‘widowed’. It states that they died minutes after sustaining ‘multiple sharp force injuries’ that were done ‘with a knife, by another’.
The death certificate also notes that their bodies have since been cremated.
Rob and Michele were married for 36 years, with Rob confirming that he changed the ending to his iconic film When Harry Met Sally after meeting her during the production of the movie.
He stated that originally the plan was for Harry and Sally to not end up together, saying: "Because I had been married for 10 years, I’d been single for 10 years and I couldn't figure out how I was ever going to be with anybody.

"I met [Michele] while we were making the film, and I changed the ending."
Two of Rob and Michele’s children, Romy and Jake, previously released a statement saying that ‘words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain [they] are experiencing every moment of the day’, calling them both their ‘best friends’.
In a new statement provided to PEOPLE, the pair shared their appreciation for the ‘outpouring of love and support’ their parents received, as well as stating that a memorial service for them would now be held at a later date.
Saturday Night Live paid an extended tribute to Rob Reiner at their most recent show, with the writer and director having hosted the third episode of the show back in 1975.

In addition to this, names such as Barack Obama, Paul McCartney, Ron Howard, Robin Wright, and Cary Elwes all posted tributes to the late director having worked with across politics and film.
Rob and Michele’s son Nick has been outspoken in the past about his mental health issues and struggles with addiction.
This includes periods in which Nick stated he had been homeless, and he had reportedly been issued new medication for schizophrenia prior to their death.
Nick Reiner will be arraigned in January of 2026 where he is expected to make a plea.
