Earlier this month, fans spotted that Maya Jama and Rúben Dias had quietly removed photos of each other from their social media accounts.
And it soon led to speculation that the pair have split with rumours of the reasoning behind it quickly spiralling.
It’s believed the Love Island presenter and Manchester City player met back in November 2024 at the MTV European Music Awards. They then confirmed their relationship in April 2025.
Jama had been living with the Portuguese star in Manchester until recently it seemed.

And now Dias has spoken out on the speculation, confirming the pair’s split. The footballer took to Instagram Stories last night (29 May) to insist he ‘did not cheat’ on the broadcaster.
Jama is yet to comment on the split.

“When my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I've cheated on my girlfriend because he's seen it repeatedly on the news, that's where I draw the line on what's acceptable and what's not,” Dias said in his statement.
“Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard.”
The centre-back went on to say that a ‘lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth’, and so, it’s for that reason that Dias says: “I didn’t cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to.”
He continued: “I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world.”
Confirming their split, Dias added that the ‘reasons’ behind their breakup ‘are private’ and the pair have ‘both dealt with it in a very mature way’.
“I’ve always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only,” he said.
“But I also believe it’s wrong to lie to people and to portray an opposite image of someone just for clickbait.”

Concluding his statement on Instagram Stories, Dias issued the message “Respect me, respect Maya, and understand that not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end.”
Jama is currently in Mallorca, filming for the start of the 2026 series of Love Island which starts on ITV2 on Monday.
A source said to be close to the pair previously told The Sun that the pair had come to a ‘crossroads’ but there is ‘still a lot of love and respect between them’.
"But with both of their careers going into overdrive this summer, they realised that the relationship had run its course and it was better to separate,” the source claimed.
"Maya is heading into an intense filming schedule and Ruben’s focus is fully on the World Cup, so they’ve decided to part ways.”
LADbible has contacted representatives for Maya Jama for comment.
