There’s a certain generation of us Brits whose worlds were rocked earlier this month when one of TV’s long-running couples announced their separation.
In a joint statement, Tess Daly and Vernon Kay said while they remained ‘great friends’ they had split ‘amicably’.
Not without its scandals, their marriage lasted 22 years, with the pair having met back in 2001 when they were both breaking into the business.
The former Strictly Come Dancing host and the BBC Radio 2 DJ wrote on their Instagram Stories that there were ‘no other parties’ involved in the decision to separate.

And now Kay’s dad, Norman, has reiterated that there is ‘no bad blood’ between the pair and that there is ‘nobody else involved’.
He also shared the advice he had given his son about other relationships.

Norman told the Daily Mail that Daly and Kay ‘made a lovely couple’ as he said: “But it's an amicable split and there is no bad blood between them. They have just gone in different directions, that's all.
“Sometimes these things happen for the better and this is one of those cases.”
Having been married for 58 years himself, Norman said that he’s stressed the importance of his son not moving on too quickly.
“I have been married a long time, much longer than Vernon and Tess were,” he said.
“My advice to him is not to rush into another relationship and he's not doing that because he's got plenty of time.”
And Norman added that it’s ‘100 per cent rubbish’ to suggest any kind of third party involvement.
“He's not interested in finding anyone else at the moment and there is nobody else involved,” the star’s dad said.

Released on 8 May, Daly and Kay’s statement read: “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.
“This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us.
"We remain great friends and most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority.
"There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together.
"We will not be making any further public comments."
Kay proposed at Daly's family home on Christmas Day in 2002 and they tied the knot at the local church in his hometown of Horwich, near Bolton, in September 2003.
They share two daughters, Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16, with Norman saying: “Tess is a lovely woman, and we want to make sure everyone is all right in this - her, Vernon and obviously our grandchildren.
“And I can tell you that they are.”
