Scarlett Johansson gave honest reason as to why she refuses to take photos with fans in public

Scarlett Johansson has explained the reason why she's not comfortable taking photos with fans who spot her in public.

Widely known for her role playing Black Widow in the Avengers films, you could argue that Johansson is one of the most recognisable actors in the world.

However don't expect to get a photo with her if you spot the 40-year-old out and about. Which is probably unlikely anyway, unless you happen to live in either New York or Los Angeles.

So why doesn't ScarJo want to be posing for pictures whenever a Marvel fan bumps into her doing food shopping or having dinner out? Isn't that just part of being a celebrity?

Well no, it's not and the Lost in Translation actually has a pretty fair reason why she's not super comfortable with being your in-demand photo prop.

Addressing the subject while promoting her upcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson told InStyle that she doesn't want to be 'identified' in a certain place or time.

"It really offends a lot of people," she explained.

"It doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative, of course, that people are fans, or happy to see me.

"But I always say to people, 'I’m not working.' [And that means] I don’t want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. I’m doing my own thing."

Which is fair enough, as celebrities are still people, despite their high-status, and not zoo animals for us to gawp at.

The actress also explained that keeping her two children - a 10-year-old daughter she shares with Romain Dauriac and a three-year-old son with Colin Jost - anonymous was also something which was important to her.

"I think preserving that [anonymity] for as long as possible until it’s someone's choice, that’s the choice I make as far as my kids go," she added.

Johansson isn't the only celebrity who has set a clear boundary when it comes to interactions with fans either.

Last year singer Chappell Roan went viral after admitting that she found fans who ask for pictures in public to be 'entitled'.

"I don’t give a f**k if you think it’s selfish of me to say no for a photo or for your time or for a hug –– that’s not normal, that’s weird," she said in a TikTok video.

Justin Bieber has also compared the experience to being a 'zoo animal' while actors Chris Pratt and Jim Carrey both said they preferred interactions which weren't photo-related.
