Christian Bale Says Kate Bush Scene Was Cut From Thor: Love And Thunder

English singer-songwriter Kate Bush has seen a recent resurgence in popularity thanks to her 1985 track Running Up That Hill being featured in the latest season of Stranger Things

In fact, almost 40 years after its initial release the song topped the UK chart - breaking the record for the longest time taken for a single to reach number one.

And the singer may have enjoyed an even bigger year, as Christian Bale has revealed that Taika Waititi wanted a Bush inspired dance scene in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Sadly, the scene was cut, meaning Bush has narrowly missed out on finding herself inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as The Upside Down.

Speaking to Total Film, Bale, who plays Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming flick, said: “Taika and I wanted to do a whole dance, which we didn’t get to do, but we had all this sort of Kate Bush stuff that we worked at.

“But I think he just realised he was never going to be allowed to put that in the final film. I would say that the most common thing I was staring at [while preparing for the role] was the Aphex Twin video of ‘Come to Daddy'. But I don’t even know if that will be in the final film.”

However, it seems unlikely Bush will be too put out to hear the news.

She recently shared a blog-post in which she said she was ‘overwhelmed’ by the song’s resurgence and praised Stranger Things' creators Matt and Ross Duffer for including the track.

She wrote: “By featuring Running Up That Hill in such a positive light - as a talisman for Max (one of the main female characters) - the song has been brought into the emotional arena of her story. Fear, conflict and the power of love are all around her and her friends.

“I salute the Duffer Brothers for their courage - taking this new series into a much more adult and darker place. I want to thank them so much for bringing the song into so many people’s lives.

“I’m overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving and it’s all happening really fast, as if it’s being driven along by a kind of elemental force.

“I have to admit I feel really moved by it all.

“Thank you so very much for making the song a No 1 in such an unexpected way.”
