The dad of LMFAO and GRL singer Lauren Bennett has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his late daughter and has claimed she was ‘failed’ by doctors.

Bennett, who is best known for featuring on the 2011 hit Party Rock Anthem, tragically passed away in Kent on 29 May at just 36.

The sad news was confirmed by GRL who shared a tribute on Instagram.

“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren,” the band said.

“Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us.

“Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”

Today (8 July) her dad Richard Bennett has broken his silence with his own tribute.

In a post on Instagram, he wrote: “It is with a broken heart that I share the loss of my beautiful and talented daughter, the love of my life and my pride and joy.

“Lauren was an incredible person and artist: creative, talented, funny, and as humble as she was beautiful.

“She was deeply loved by all who knew her and made a lasting impact on countless lives through her music, her kindness, and the way she made people feel.

“From an early age, it was clear that Lauren had a very special gift. She began performing professionally at just 12 years old, and watching her grow into the artist she became was one of the greatest joys of my life.

“Her achievements in the music industry were beyond our wildest dreams and continue to make me so proud.”

Richard also shared new details on Bennett’s health in her last few months, saying that his daughter had suffered a ‘severe reaction to a prescribed medication’.

He said following the reaction, Bennett’s family had ‘rallied around her’ and ‘did everything they could’.

He went on to say: “We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need.'

“Lauren was deeply loved and will be missed every day for the rest of our lives. I hope she will be remembered for her remarkable achievements, her beautiful music, and the incredible person she was. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, her family, and through the music she leaves behind.”

He finished the statement by asking for privacy for the family as they ‘navigate this unimaginable loss’ and thanked friends and fans for their support.

An inquest into Bennett’s death has been scheduled for later this year.

Bennett rose to fame with LMFAO before joining GRL in 2014, the band was created as a reboot of US girl group The Pussycat Dolls, and also had Paula Van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, Simone Battle, and Emmalyn Estrada in the line-up.

The band’s biggest hit was 2014’s Ugly Heart, but they broke up the following year after Battle died by suicide.

LADbible Group has contacted the NHS for comment.
