The shocking moment aired during the original series of the beloved game show.

After it was announced that Deal or No Deal is returning to our screens, fans unearthed a shocking clip from the original series.

The programme was the pinnacle of after-school telly, with millions tuning in every afternoon to find out whether the contestant had beaten the infamous banker.

In a recently unearthed clip though, viewers watched in horror as an old lady responds with the wrong answer to the iconic question.

As with every episode, the contestant had initially begun the game with sealed boxes which stood for various cash prizes ranging from 1p to £250,000.

Julie had played a gruelling game have ruled out every other box apart from box 23, with the chance to take home the jackpot prize.

As host Noel Edmonds asks her the iconic question, it seems like the elderly contestant is ready to make to deal of a lifetime when she accidentally replies: “Deal, no.”

The audience screech in horror, as Edmonds reveals that he’s ‘duty bond’ to accept her first answer – which is when the phone rings.

In a sweet moment, the elderly woman reassures the audience as she seems resigned to her fate and to losing the life-changing sum.

After a brief discussion with the banker, everyone waits with bated breath as to what will happen next before Edmonds reveals whether she’s been given a second chance.

Referring to the anonymous banker, the host tells her: “He said winning is the most important thing to him…as long as it’s fair and square.”

Then with a cheeky smile, he adds: “He has empowered me to ask the question again.”

Immediately, the audience breaks out into cheers as they hear the news with Julie becoming almost teary in the tense moment.

Much to the viewers' joy, she then says ‘No Deal’ reading it off a card Edmonds had jokingly put before her.

As that wasn’t enough, it’s then revealed that she has won £250,000 with the remaining box being worth a world-crushing: nothing.

Thankfully, she was given a second chance.

Since being unearthed, the viral clip has gained over 470,000 views on Tik Tok with fans flooding the comments on the social media platform.

Many have praised the producers for giving the woman a second chance, including one user who wrote: “They knew she was excited and confused and it was a genuine mistake”

Others agreed, with another adding: “Good on them for giving her another chance & winning.”

Here’s hoping the new series isn’t as stressful to watch.
