Denise Richards had 'terrifying' experience filming Wild Things swimming pool scene

The actress says that filming the scene for the 1998 film made her 'extremely nervous'.

Denise Richards said she was 'terrified' filming the infamous pool scene for 1998 neo-noir film Wild Things.

She described filming the racy scene with co-star Neve Campbell as 'terrifying'.

The thrilling film follows Detective Ray Duquette (Kevin Bacon) as he investigates rape allegations made by two female students against guidance counsellor Sam Lombardo (Matt Dillon).

Duquette soon realises things aren't quite what they seem and begins to follow the trio and their actions.

The raunchy scene in question shows Richards and Campbell in a swimming pool sharing a kiss together as things get steamy.

Speaking in an interview with The Guardian, the 52-year-old actress told the news outlet that she was 'extremely nervous' ahead of shooting the notorious scene.

"It was terrifying," she admitted, adding: “It was the first time I had filmed anything like that, so I was obviously extremely nervous.”

Richards, known for her roles in Love Actually and Drop Dead Gorgeous, continued by noting: “There are a couple of scenes that are very risque.

"There’s a lot of choreography of figuring out who’s going where, so it’s not as sexy as people think.”

The Guardian asked Richards whether she was still about to 'look Neve Campbell in the eye', to which she quickly responded: "Of course, yes! I’m sure people must think that behind the scenes it’s very exciting, but it’s not.

"But I’m glad it comes off that sexy in the movie.”

Richards previously admitted that she didn't want her young daughters to see the compromising scenes and has banned them from watching the film.

She explained: "I just said, 'I would appreciate if you didn't watch it'.

"It's not age appropriate and it was a movie I did, it was a script I loved, it's me being creative.

"I definitely did not give them a copy [of the film]. I told them, 'I don't want you guys watching this'."

The 1998 film grossed a worldwide total of $67.2 million at the box office.

The actress received a lot of backlash recently for supporting her 18-year-old daughter, Sami Sheen, in her decision to join OnlyFans. She even decided to set up her own OnlyFans account off the back of it.

"She mentioned to me she was going to do it. Quite frankly, I didn't even know or had heard of OnlyFans. I hadn't been on there, so I didn't really know," said Richards.

"I had heard of it, and she reassured me that she was going to keep it to mainly bikini stuff and bathing suits and stuff like that.

"And then the reason I wanted to join is because she got so much backlash for that, that I didn't think it was really fair."
