People are just finding out what the 'Disney hug rule' is at theme parks around the world

It turns out there isn't a time limit on the embrace you share with your favourite characters

Given that it's a deed which doesn't require a lot of direction, people have been left pretty stunned after discovering the Disney 'hug rule'.

It turns out that the people who don costumes of beloved characters and trot around the magical theme parks have really been going the extra mile to put a smile on kids faces.

Even if it means they end up locked in a cuddle with a child for much longer than they intended, these thoughtful workers will never let go of the little one first.

Essentially, it means there is no time limit on embraces for youngsters who want to squeeze the sh*t out of their favourite Disney character.

The 'hug rule' isn't officially mandated by Disney, but it's gradually become standard practice in the parks across the world thanks to the kindness of the theme park mascots.

To make it even sweeter, apparently, the employees themselves came up with the idea of never stopping the hug first.

Disneyland fan site, Inside the Magic, previously suggested that the workers were inspired by the spirit of Walt Disney himself, who supposedly once said: "You never know how much that child may need that hug."

Whether he uttered those words or not, the point still stands - hence why you're often stuck in lengthy queues when you're waiting to meet characters with your kiddies.

Still, it might be a bit easier to deal with your growing impatience from now on, after we've clued you in on the adorable Disney 'hug rule'.

I mean, imagine pulling away prematurely from a little darling who could have really done with a gesture of affection that day - as even kids have problems, worries and fears to deal with.

Anyway, people online have found the Disney hug rule seriously heartwarming, with social media users saying they have been left 'sobbing' after watching clips of children clinging tightly onto their favourite characters.

One said: "I had no idea [about the hug rule], but that choked me up."

Another wrote: "This is the most wholesome, sweet little rule. I love this so much."

A third added: "Such a precious moment."

A fourth chimed in: "Gahhhhh I’m in a puddle over here. The sweetness. What a blessing for all of the children that visit Disney. Love this!"

And a fifth commented: "I would love to be one of these characters to lighten up someone's day, even just a little bit."

A host of others also admitted they 'never knew' about the hug rule...while some were keen to find out whether it applies to adult theme park visitors, too.

Although it's supposed to be the most magical place on earth, Disneyland isn't all endless cuddles and constant smiles, according to some visitors.

A host of theme park-goers have been complaining that the noise levels of some guests are getting seriously out of hand and are spoiling people's experiences.

Sounds like they might need a hug, don't you think?
