Sweden's Loreen hit with fix claims after viewers noticed her microphone was on

Sweden's Loreen hit with fix claims after viewers noticed her microphone was on

Disgruntled fans have taken to Twitter to air their thoughts on whether the contest was fixed

Eurovision Song Contest fans are calling Loreen’s win a 'fix' after they noticed that her microphone had been left on long after she'd stepped off stage.

This evening (13 May), Sweden’s entry into the 2023 singing contest, Loreen, was crowned as this year’s winner.

She beat out 25 other finalists to the top spot, including Finland’s Kaarija, UK’s Mae Muller and Austria’s Teya & Salena.

And this isn't her first Eurovision win, having previously won 2012's competition with her song 'Euphoria', which is still a certified bop.

However, some fans believe that the 39-year-old taking home the crown was planned after she was spotted still wearing her microphone as the public votes were announced.

Some thought she was still wearing the mic as the winner of Eurovision performs again at the end of the show.

One fan took to Twitter and wrote: “Eurovision really is a fix. Ukraine last year. Loreen propped by the televote this year.

"Pathetic really."

Another said: “Did they already give Loreen the head mic for her performance? Or is this just for the interview, do they normally double-mic people?”

A third wrote: “LI know it’s a fix for ABBA to perform at Eurovision next year and I wanted Finland to win but I really want Loreen to tickle my back with those nails."

And some viewers pointed to Alesha Dixon interviewing Loreen with a handheld microphone, with the one on her head not being used.

However, not everyone believes this claim.

“I don’t think it was a fix,” wrote one fan. “By the time she had her mic on I bet they had counted all the public votes up so much they knew it would be here anyway.

“Loreen has been a Euro fave since ‘Euphoria’ and people love that song and in turn, her, I would have been shocked if she didn’t win.”

Another wrote: “If you really think they would fix Eurovision just for Sweden to host next year on ABBA anniversary… You’re just sad.

“Sweden played a strong hand with Loreen and know how to sell it every single year.”

LADbible has reached out to the BBC for comment.

This year’s entrant also left viewers believing that her performance was a tribute to Wolverine, while Finland’s catchy ‘Cha Cha Cha’ song left fans in stitches.

Interestingly, she’s also the first person since Johnny Logan to win Eurovision more than once.

Finnish star Käärijä came second in the voting.

Logan won the song contest in 1980, and then again seven years later.

Loreen's win means that next year’s Eurovision song contest will be held in Sweden.

And as fans have pointed out, it’s coincidentally the 50th anniversary of ABBA winning the competition with 'Waterloo'.
