After spending all day in (hopefully) the baking hot sun the UK will get this summer, you'll want to unwind in the evening with a glass of Schnapps in front of the TV.

While a lot is yet to be confirmed for the streaming services in the summer months, there is one particular film release that has got a juicy June release date.

The hopeful-banger in question is Extraction 2, which is set to drop on Netflix on 16 June this year.

For all your film junkies out there, you'll know that Extraction 2 has the Russo brothers - Joe and Anthony - on board.

I don't know about you, but any film that features the pair gets me excited, and gives me a lot of belief we will soon have a classic on our hands.

Extraction 2 is released on 16 June this year.

The sequel to the 2020 film is once again directed by Sam Hargrave, with the screenplay coming from Joe, and Anthony on the producing side of things with the likes of Patrick Newall and and Mike Larocca.

The cast also features Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Tinatin Dalakishvili, Andro Jafaridze, Miriam and Marta Kovziashvili and Daniel Bernhardt John Wick.

As with the first film, Extraction 2 is set to feature a lot of action, as mercenary Tyler Rake returns for another high-stakes mission despite being previously presumed death.

An official plot synopsis from Netflix reads: "After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held."

The hype for the sequel is really starting to build, with the Russo brothers recently shedding some light on the second film.

While actually at the world premiere of their Prime Video series Citadel in London, the Russo brothers were asked about Extraction 2.

It's set to be a big Netflix release for the summer.

In conversation with Collider the brothers confirmed that Extraction 2 would be made even more thrilling - not just from its new colder and darker environment.

In fact, one particular scene in the film is shot in a 14-minute continuous take, which is certainly impressive.

Of course, the finished product may not clock in at exactly 14-minutes, it will certainly be around that mark.

Joe told Collider: "I haven't got out the stopwatch, but that seems pretty accurate."

While the scene was kept tightly under wraps, Joe did hint that it may involve a helicopter in some form.
