If you're a Star Wars fan then this is definitely one for you, as photos have now been released giving fans a first look at the new part of Disneyland, dedicated to the world's best-loved space movie series.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge reportedly cost an eye-watering $1 billion (£773 million) and is spread over a huge 14-acre plot at the iconic theme park.

The attraction will open first at Disneyland, California, on 31 May before being unveiled at Florida's Walt Disney World on 29 August.

But ahead of the grand opening tomorrow, one of the stars of the franchise, John Boyega, visited the site and posted a photograph of the impressive attraction, thanking all the people who made it possible.

The first picture from the finished site was shared by John Boyega.

Posting the first-look snap to his Instagram account, the British actor said: "Meet the amazing cast of Batuu ready to give the fans all around the world the most immersive Star Wars experience!

"Star Wars #GalaxysEdge opens its doors in one week at @disneyland and don't you worry i'll be there to help guide you through one of the most insane rides! It was a pleasure to work with the team on this. Enjoy and may the force be with you."

Since sharing the pic, the actor's excited followers have been bombarding his comment section.

One impressed fan said: "This is going to be SO COOL. We gotta take our future kids."

A second person wrote: "Time to book a trip to Disneyland."

As well as fans of the saga, members of the crew (also featured in the pic) took the opportunity to thank Boyega for his post.

One commented: "Wow I can't believe John Boyega posted a picture of me and my crew."

Earlier this year, we showed you some pictures which gave an idea of how work was progressing at Walt Disney World.

But now that it's finished, we have a better idea of how it's all going to look - with a life-sized replica of the Millennium Falcon looking pretty bloody incredible in the background.

And as well as the futuristic rides and amusements, the park is also going to feature a number of restaurants with Star Wars inspired names like Ronto Roasters and Oga's Cantina.

Incidentally, those restaurants will be the first venue that Disney has ever created that will sell booze too. Which, if you're not a fan of the sci-fi saga, will help you get through the trip.
