A Real-Life Version Of ‘The Simpsons’ House Exists And It’s Uncanny

There are many parts of The Simpsons which don't translate into reality: the characters' bright yellow skin, their four fingers, and the repetitive wardrobe and agelessness. However, there's one aspect that has been developed in our world - their house.

The orange home that is 742 Evergreen Terrace is a legendary location as it houses the family on the longest running American sitcom in history - and it was brought to life in 1997 by Kaufman and Broad homebuilders.

The property, located at 712 Red Bark Lane in Henderson, Nevada, attempted to recreate every aspect of the fictional home, and they've not done too badly.

The only reason why it was constructed was to serve as the 'grand prize' for the 'The Simpsons House Give Away'. The winner could either accept a $75,000 (£55,673) cash prize or pick up the keys to their very own Simpsons property - which would be a pretty epic reward for an ultra-fan.

However, it appears that the person who went on to claim the prize, Barbara Howard, wanted the cold, hard cash instead and the house was sold to someone else. Ms Howard told the LA Times: "Honey, I'd give my eyeteeth to pick up and move there, but my family being in the shape it's in, I can't."

She added that the property was way too far away from their 260-acre farm where her husband raises cows, ostriches and tobacco.

Ms Howard continued: "What I'd really like is to have Kaufman & Broad build me the house just like it is with everything in it, right here...I'd give anything to have it here and have people go through and pay a small fee that would go to the cancer fund."

When it was officially unveiled to the public, thousands lined up to see the cartoon replica. Jean and Marie told the Las Vegas Sun: "It's adorable, I'd like to buy the furniture. We were here the first day it opened, but the line was so long we left and came back today."

Apparently, the designers focused on two rooms specifically, Bart's room and the living room, and ensured they were as accurate as possible. But the supervising architect reckons the whole property is about 90 percent replicated from the show.

They made sure that Bart's treehouse in the backyard, along with a barbecue and a swing set, were also included.

In addition to that, there's 1,500 Simpsons-themed props scattered around the home, including Duff beer cans and those corn kitchen curtains.
