It looks terrifying

Very rarely do remakes live up to the hype, and to be honest it should come as no surprise, like the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

We need only look at 2007's reboot of the horror classic, Halloween, for a truly awful example of this.

But the remake of Stephen King's terrifying Pet Sematary promises to be shit scary, if the new trailer is anything to go by.

If you've not read the book - or seen the previous movie - Pet Sematary centres on doctor Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) who moves to Maine with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two kids. Once there he finds a creepy burial ground in the woods near to his home, which is just classic bad luck, isn't it?

When he and his family are struck by a sudden tragedy, our man Dr Creed turns to his weird neighbour Jud Crandall (played by John Lithgow), which sets in motion a horrifying chain of events.

If you're unfamiliar with the story and you love being scared, then you're in for a treat, because it's a genuinely horrifying tale and this new re-telling looks amazing.

The new movie is directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, who have previously worked together on Starry Eyes, and has a screenplay by Jeff Buhler, who previously worked on the screenplay for the wonderfully titled slasher flick The Midnight Meat Train, which stared Vinnie Jones in his most iconic role - after Mean Machine, obvs.

And fans can't seem to wait for it to hit the big screen, with many sharing their excitement on social media.

One person wrote: "I tried to watch the first film. Never saw it all way through.. . This looks good. But bloody creepy."

The new movie is a remake of the 1983 classic and is set for release later this year.

Another added: "So excited to see this ! There is no one like Stephen King. #PETSEMATARY"

The movie is the latest Stephen King novel to get itself a brand-new adaption, following the huge success of It, which smashed all sorts of records when it was released last autumn.

Pennywise is due to get his second airing next year as a sequel to the smash is in the works.

Meanwhile Pet Sematary is set to hit cinemas in April 2019, so it looks like next year is shaping up to be a good one for horror fans.
