Production on Avatar 2 and 3 has finished, according to reports.
Last year it was announced that the movie's star, Zoey Saldana, had completed her part of filming but according to reports in the Independent, the next two installments of the sci-fi saga have now been completed.
The original film smashed records at the box office, raking in more than $2 billion worldwide and as a result the film's director, Hollywood supremo James Cameron, decided to make two of the sequels back-to-back.
Speaking about making the two films together, the Terminator director admitted it was confusing.
He said: "One day I'll be working on scenes from [Avatar] 2, the next day I'll be working on scenes from 3, and the actors come in and go, 'Oh, we're working on 3 today.'"
And though it has been almost a decade since the original flick was released, we shouldn't be too surprised it has taken this long for a sequel, really - the first film took almost 10 years to make.
And the ambitious Cameron isn't stopping there, with plans for fourth and fifth movies in the Avatar series having been revealed in 2017.
However, according to the Independent, the final two installments may never be made.
This comes after news of the upcoming merger between Disney and Fox, which could affect Cameron's 'creative control' over the films.
CinemaBlend said the fourth and fifth movies were actually never certain to happen in the first place. They claim that Fox initially wanted to wait and see how two and three do at the box office before giving the green light to a further two movies.
When the merger is complete, the responsibility for this decision will rest on the Disney's shoulders, which, according to Geek Tyrant, could be good news for Cameron, as Walt Disney World is home to the Pandora - The World of Avatar theme park. So you'd think they're pretty keen on the franchise.
But with estimated costs of $1 billion for the fourth and fifth films - should they be given the go-ahead - you can see why studio bosses might be a bit hesitant to sign them off just yet.
Previously talking about the project, Cameron said: "The thing is, my focus isn't on Avatar 2. It's on Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5 equally. That's exactly how I'm approaching it."
Avatar 2 is set to premiere on 18 December 2020, and Avatar 3 will release a year later on 17 December 2021.
