The latest trailer for the long-awaited psychological thriller My Friend Dahmer has been released and, if you've been following the film's progression, I probably don't need to tell you it looks creepy as fuck.

Want to get to sleep tonight without any problems? Then really, honestly, God's truth, I recommend you don't watch it. It's just not worth it, it's just not...

Oh well, I tried to warn you.

The film centres on the life of infamous killer and necrophile Jeffery Dahmer, and is based on the graphic novel by John Backderf, who went to school with 'the Milwaukee Cannibal' in Ohio in the 1970s.

It follows the real-life story of Dahmer's high school days, including his 'obsession with bones', carrying out his own grisly experiments in his backyard lab, alcoholism and how he got a reputation for being a class clown. This isn't the first trailer we've seen, either - the first was released back in July:

Dahmer committed his first murder just three weeks after graduation, aged 18. He killed young men and boys and became infamous for mutilating the bodies of his victims, carrying out sickening acts of necrophilia and cannibalism. He would go on killing until he was apprehended in 1991.

He was later diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder and a psychotic disorder, but was found to be legally sane at his trial, where he was sentenced to life in prison. He was beaten to death by a fellow inmate named Christopher Scarver.

However, the film is set in the 1970s, when Dahmer and his classmates were in their teens, and aims to tell the 'story before the story', according to the film's writer and director Marc Meyers.

My Friend Dahmer will be released in theatres on 3 November .
