Banshees of Inisherin, The Batman, The Penguin, The Gentlemen. Fair enough two of those had him playing the same oddly-lovable yet utterly insane mobster, but what a few years it has been for Colin Farrell.

Pretty much everything he touches turns to gold at the moment, and movie fans are sure to pay extra attention to anything he does next. Whether it's another outing as Oswald Cobblepot or something new entirely, adding his name into the mix will definitely give things a head start.

His latest project however is with a newly-released short film, as he is set to be Executive Producer for Room Taken. It's already received awards in the states, enough so that it has now qualified for the 2025 Academy Awards.

Colin has made a habit of working on projects that carry a good story, and this looks to be no different. Room Taken tells the story of Isaac, played by newcomer Gabriel Adewusi, who has recently arrived in Ireland and is looking for a place to stay.

He eventually finds a home with an elderly blind lady, who is played by Olivier Award and Tony Award winner Bríd Brennan. However, he moves into her home without her knowing and tries to avoid being found.

They form a unique bond, and the short film dives into their relationship and the shared loneliness they both feel in their otherwise different lives.

Don't take our word for it though, you can check out the full short film below. Be forewarned though that it is a bit of a tearjerker, so have a box of tissues nearby...

Speaking about the project, Colin says, "Room Taken is such a gentle cry to the power of human connection. It treats loneliness and grief and the struggle of the immigrant with such a gentle hand, bringing its character and narrative threads together beautifully.

"The film wears its compassion, along with its heart, on its sleeve with tender performances and a story that stayed with me long after viewing. For these reasons I was thrilled to be asked to be a part of helping Room Taken find as wide an audience as possible.”
