Therapist explains five 'subtle' signs your relationship could be ending soon

Time for a hot girl summer?

It seems that these days, people spend their lives trying to get into relationships only to look for every possible excuse for them to end once they're finally there.

Social media can be a truly terrible place, whether you're in a relationship or not, because so-called experts will probably try to tell you that buying you flowers is a red flag or that your partner is cheating on you every time they leave the house.

Hell, people are even dumping their boyfriends because ChatGPT told them to, so it perhaps feels like you can never really be safe unless you've already found your soulmate.

So, if you are going to take relationship advice on the internet, at least look towards genuinely licensed therapists, such as TikTok star Therapy Jeff.

He's let his fans know about five 'subtle' signs that things might sadly, or happily depending on your standpoint, be soon coming to an end.

Inside jokes stop landing

Michael Scott once said: "I love inside jokes, would love to be a part of one someday."

The point of inside jokes is that it's something you and your partner can laugh about, safe in the knowledge that everyone else in the world probably wouldn't have a clue what you're on about, which is what makes them so fun. But once they stop being funny, your relationship could be in trouble.

On TikTok, Jeff says: "The little things that used to make you both crack up now feel forced or worse, one of you just doesn't find them funny anymore."

Conversations feel like small talk

The last thing you want to be doing with your partner everyday is discussing the weather, unless that's a particular shared special interest of yours.

Jeff says: "Instead of deep engaging discussions, your interactions are beginning to sound like an awkward catch up with a distant relative."

You stop turning to them first

If you have good news, bad news or just a new classic dad joke, your partner should be the first ones to hear it.

Jeff adds: "When something exciting, frustrating or even mundane happens, they're no longer the first person you wanna share it with."

You feel more relieved than sad when they're not around

Look, we all need our me time, and enjoying some time away from your partner shouldn't be seen as a bad thing if you ask me.

But Jeff suggests that if you start feeling more relieved when you get time alone, then maybe things could soon take a turn for the worse.

Your future plans don't naturally include them

Look, if you're 16 and reading this then you probably don't need to worry about this one too much.

But if you're looking to settle down with someone and you're dating someone who you can't see a future with, it's maybe time you stopped stringing them along and let them know your plans, otherwise it might just be wasted time for the both of you.

Other signs

Jeff goes on to share a few other potential signs, including being annoyed with them more often, a lack of physical affection, craving emotional intimacy elsewhere, and fights feeling like a waste of energy.
