Creepy theory about Buddy in Elf will stop parents letting children watch it

Fans of Elf have come up with a strange theory about Buddy, and you’ll never look at the character the same after reading it.

Fans of Elf have come up with a strange theory about Buddy, and you’ll never look at the character the same after reading it.

If you looked hard enough, you could probably find a conspiracy theory for every film that has ever been created.

But a conspiracy for Christmas films? Can we not just enjoy them in peace, please?!

Well, fans of the festive classic Elf, released in 2003 starring Will Ferrell as everyone’s favourite elf, have come up with a conspiracy about the much-loved character, and parents might want to keep the movie out of sight from their children after reading this one…

Despite Buddy being portrayed as the most innocent, playful and child-like human that could possibly exist, some people have come up with the conspiracy theory that the character is nothing but a creep.

It goes without saying that some things that Buddy does, he simply wouldn’t get away with without being his innocent elf-self, such as buying his dad lingerie and eating chewing gum off the side of the road.

Some people believe that after watching the film, Buddy is actually in reality just a pretty weird guy.

According to some fans, Buddy the Elf isn't as innocent as he seems...

One scene in the film shows him following his love interest, Jovie, into the female shower block.

It’s portrayed as an accident in the film, but conspiracists believe he’s just creepy and did it on purpose. Let's face it, if some random bloke followed you into a shower cubicle, you'd be pretty freaked out, right?

Fans have also said that he brutally injured children on the way home from his brother's school.

In reality, it was just a snowball fight that got out of hand, albeit a pretty competitive one.

Another hot-take from the film was that his love for syrup was just an excuse to get drunk while on the job.

In one scene we can see Buddy with a friend he makes in the postal room, looking rather tipsy after just drinking all day instead of getting the job done.

An innocent elf? Or a pretty creepy guy?

And Elf isn’t the only Christmas film that conspiracists have attempted to make claims about.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas is also on the list, but this theory is actually a lot more wholesome.

Some fans suggested that Max the dog was actually a Christmas present by someone in Whoville.

It’s a theme throughout the movie that the Grinch steals Christmas presents, and so he found Max decided to keep him.

Please could we just leave our Christmas films alone people, there’s only one month of the year we can even enjoy them!
