Man attached himself to a real-life trap inspired by the movie Saw to see if he could escape

Christian Wedoy's 'Metal Cube Escape' isn't for the faint-hearted

It's easy to get all high and mighty from the comfort of your couch while watching a horror film, insisting that you'd easily outlive the slain characters.

But this bloke really put his money where his mouth is when he put himself inside a deadly contraption, which was inspired by one of the traps in the Saw franchise.

Christian Wedoy is renowned for his ability to wriggle his way out of a tight spot while under the threat of serious injury or death, but his 'Metal Cube Escape' really is something to behold.

Take a look here:

The escape artist, seen competing on Romania's Got Talent in March 2020, is something of a master when it comes to holding his breath.

According to his website, 'no one in the world' can last as long as him underwater, while dually carrying out a crazy stunt.

The Norwegian, who also performs as a magician, has carried out all kinds of tricks over the years which he says earned him a reputation as 'one of the best escape artists' on the planet.

He's busted his way out of a milk can, while handcuffed underwater against a ticking clock, as well as freeing himself and his girlfriend from separate tanks, so Wedoy can walk the walk to be fair.

And although those claustrophobia-inducing stunts really get peoples heart's pumping, his Metal Cube Escape is even more chilling.

That's because the metal cube that Wedoy is tasked with escaping from - and the whole stunt entirely - is inspired by a trap featured in the 2008 film Saw V.

Movie fans might remember the chilling torture device, the Water Cube, which special agent Peter Strahm found himself caught up in after investigating serial killer John Kramer, AKA Jigsaw.

His head was trapped inside a glass cube that had two tubes inserted through the top, which were connected to water tanks.

As I'm sure you can guess, this soon began to fill up - leaving him to face the prospect of drowning, or getting creative and finding a means of escape.

I won't go into all gory details, but Strahm did find a way to free himself in case you were wondering.

For some reason, Wedoy decided to recreate this absolute nightmare and try it out for himself - while making it a little bit harder too.

To even out the playing field, seen as though he doesn't have a madcap serial killer playing mind games with him, the escapologist made some tweaks to make the Metal Cube Escape worthy of being his 'signature act'.

Wedoy - who also appeared on Britain's Got Talent as well as various other European versions of the show - had his head locked inside a small cube which slowly gets filled with water, just like Strahm.

However, he has to hold his breath for up to eight minutes while he is freeing himself from handcuffs, arm cuffs and three padlocks to survive.

As I'm sure you can imagine, that's no easy feat - and it goes without saying, but please don't try this at home.

Wedoy, who is a former dancer and commercial diver, has somehow miraculously made it out of the Metal Cube Escape alive numerous times.

He reckons that his background gives him a 'unique set of skills', which make him the perfect stage performer and escapologist - and after watching his efforts on Romania's Got Talent, I don't think anyone can deny he can hold a crowd.

By the looks on the judges faces, they must have seen Strahm's efforts in Saw V too.
