An unseen clip from Harry Potter is circulating online, leaving avid fans feeling emotional after seeing Dudley Dursley’s true character.

Throughout the Harry Potter films, Dudley isn’t the most loved by fans, but this deleted scene has revealed a different side to him.

The usually spoilt and unlikable cousin of the titular wizard, was shown in a different light in the scene, and fans have realised that there is a lot more to their relationship, which would have made sense if they left the scene in!

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, the movie only makes a fleeting visit to Privet Drive as Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) says goodbye to the Dursleys.

Vernon, Petunia and Dudley were forced from their home for their own safety due to the threat of Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

Although we don't get to see their goodbye in the cut version of the film, the extended exchange gives us a little more insight into Harry's relationship with his cousin.

It starts with Vernon rushing his family into the car, seemingly unbothered about having to say goodbye to his nephew.

When Harry walks downstairs, he's met with his aunt as she stands in the living room deep in thought.

After explaining to her that she's not safe there, she replies: "Do you think I don't know what they're capable of?

"You didn't just lose a mother that night in Godric's Hollow, you know. I lost my sister."

This line was also in the book, making it even more impactful than it already is.

But the bit that's left people sobbing into their pillows is the interaction between Harry and Dudley.

When Vernon gives a brief goodbye, Dudley says, "I don't understand, isn't he coming with us?"

The dad responds, suggesting Harry 'doesn't want to' go with them, to which he confirms before making a dig at how he's been cast aside by the family over the years.

"I'm just a waste of space, isn't that right Vernon?" he says.

Although Dudley's told to get in the car, he ignores his dad and walks over to Harry and extends his hand, telling him: "I don't think you're a waste of space."

I'm not crying, you're crying.

Many see the moment as Dudley's way of making amends.

Hundreds of people have commented on the emotional scene, with one writing: "I cry every time Dudley says that, dammit."

"I would have cried if that was actually in the movie," said another.

Many fans expressed their wishes that the scene had been left in the final cut, including one person who suggested it was 'important for character development'.

A second wrote: "There were so many deleted scenes in Harry Potter that would've made the movie so much better and understandable."
