John Cena decided to keep schtum about the 'graphic' sex scenes he was gearing up for with Amy Schumer.
The WWE star explained that he felt wary about bringing the delicate topic up to his former fiancée Nikki Bella - so he opted to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
However, this approach ended up biting him in the backside as he landed himself in a 'little bit of trouble' with his ex-partner, who he split up with in April 2019.
The couple called time on their engagement after a 'beautiful and loving' six-year relationship, with Bella later explaining that their break-up stemmed from them wanting 'two different lives'.

But while they were still very much together back in 2014, Cena - who celebrates his 49th birthday on Thursday (23 April) - was cast in the romcom Trainwreck alongside Amy Schumer.
In the film which was released the following year, the wrestling legend starred as gym-addict Steven, who is one of the blokes who ends up being a notch on the bedpost of Schumer's character, Amy Townsend.
In one cringe-worthy sex scene, the actress acts her co-star to 'talk dirty' to her while they are in bed - and Schumer previously joked that he was 'actually inside' of her while they filmed it.
Cena later clarified that he was wearing a modesty pouch, which he described as a 'Spandex sock', to conceal his manhood while shooting this intimate moment.
As we all know, the Massachusetts-born star isn't scared of getting his kit off - as he was 'completely starkers' while presenting a on stage at the 2024 Oscars, bar a pair of Birkenstocks.
However, his former fiancée Bella wasn't half as enthusiastic about her fella stripping off while they were still an item.
She later spoke out about how his intimate scene with Schumer in Trainwreck was a total turn-off for her and claimed it seriously dampened her sex drive.

"Imagine watching your man do a sex scene and have the whole world see his big butt," the professional wrestler said during an episode of her reality TV show Total Bellas in 2018. "You know, you get visuals.
"I swear I couldn’t masturbate forever because I just think of the sex scene."
It later emerged that she didn't have the chance to challenge Cena about this prior to him feigning fornication with Schumer, as he didn't tell her about the 'graphic' things they'd be getting up to until the eleventh hour.
During an appearance on Conan O'Brien's chat show in wake of the release of the comedy film, The Marine actor revealed that Bella didn't take the news too well when he finally fessed up.
When the host asked him if he 'got in a little bit of trouble' with his other half, Cena responded: "Are you kidding me, a little bit of trouble?"

He then explained why he initially kept his gig in Trainwreck quiet, saying: "I didn't think I'd get the part and I kept putting it off and not telling Nicole and not having the discussion of, ‘Hey, there may be some graphic scenes'.
"I got it [the role] and I couldn’t say no. So I kinda walked in one day and just said, ‘Hey, I’m doing this!’ And...that was the wrong approach."
Discussing Bella's colourful reaction, he continued: "She has such beautiful brown eyes, and they glowed with red hell fire. She has such a great smile...but she turned into the Alien and Predator all at once."
After O'Brien pointed out that he 'didn't ask' her if she approved, Cena added: "It was more like a forgiveness thing. And a note to all you guys out there - that's a bad approach."
Since parting ways with Bella, Cena went on to get hitched to Shay Shariatzadeh in 2020.
