Rebel Wilson has spoken about the story behind her Yorkshire accent in a brand-new Christmas film she stars in alongside Kiefer Sutherland.
Wilson stars in a new film Tinsel Town alongside Sutherland who plays a washed up American celebrity ‘Bradley Mack’ who gets cast in a Yorkshire pantomime.
The Australian actor, best known for her roles in Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids, stars opposite Sutherland as Jill, a Yorkshire choreographer.
Wilson, who announced today that her wife Ramona Agruma was pregnant, spoke exclusively to LADbible about the Christmas film and adopting a Yorkshire accent for the part.

In the film, Wilson’s character is from a fictional Yorkshire town, however, she had very little time to prepare for this.
He said: “I didn't have much notice. I had like four days notice. And they're like, ‘oh, you want to fly to England and do a Christmas movie?’
“When I read the script, I mean the character kind of obviously has to have a Yorkshire accent. So I didn't have much notice, but I have a friend who's great with accents, Lottie, and so she came up with me and then it's just like, my favourite phrase is just like saying, ‘hiya love’.
“So I just like go around and start saying it.”
She went on to add: “I know it's weird because everyone knows I don't have a Yorkshire accent, in real life I'm Australian.
“It's kind of weird when even when I watched the movie, I'm like, ‘oh, that's me talking like that’.
“But I did, you know, I love the accent and I was trying to do it properly. Like, I was trying to do it very professionally.

“But I don't know. I mean, it'll be weird for a real Northerners to see it… it's so hard because [Northerners] have different accents even if you're 20 minutes away!”
Wilson has spent six months living in the UK splitting time between there and LA, and revealed the one British thing she was most surprised by.
She said: “You know the shop Greggs?”
Wilson stated that her and Sutherland paid for a Gregg’s van one day on set.
Speaking to The Independent at the premiere, she also said: “This might sound weird, but I started drinking tea, and I never ever drank tea before.
“I don't know whether it's because it was so freezing when we were filming this movie in Leeds… By the end of it, I was just drinking tea all day.”
Tinsel Town is available to stream on Sky Cinema and NOW.
