If you were a fan of Rogue One then buckle up because director Gareth Edwards is back for an epic tale.
The Creator has an all-star cast and a plot that is a scary foreshadowing of the future.
John David Washington (Tenet), Gemma Chan (The Eternals), Ken Watanabe (Inception), and Sturgill Simpson (Killers of the Flower Moon) are all on board for this science fiction thriller.
The synopsis of the film states: “Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself.
“Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory only to discover the world-ending weapon he's been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.”
Oof, sounds absolutely juicy.
Edwards has been developing this bad boy since late 2019.
The project has seen him travel the world to find places on Earth that could look other-worldly on the big screen.
Speaking to GamesRadar, the director said it was worth every cent.
“I took a camera and a 1970s anamorphic lens, we went location-scouting in Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, and Nepal,” he said.
“Our whole plan was just to go to the greatest locations in the world, because the cost of a flight is way less than the cost of building a set.
“We were going to hopscotch around the world and shoot this film, then layer in the science-fiction on top afterwards.
“If our film is trying to achieve something visually, it’s trying to feel real in terms of science-fiction.”
And it looks like they have pulled it off.
The trailer that dropped earlier this year shows audiences can expect visuals that are out of this world…literally.
Think flying planes, robots, futuristic weapons and action scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Those who watched the trailer praised the ‘finished CGI’ and ‘high production value’.
“Original Sci-fi. Finished CGI. High production value. These aren’t something you see often these days. I’m excited,” said one viewer.
Another added: “So fascinating to see glimpses of the imagery that made Rogue One so beautiful.”
This will be a full cinematic experience that you won’t want to miss, so search your closest cinema, grab some mates and see The Creator when it drops on September 28.
