As we hit the back end of November, many film fans will be full swing getting into watches of their favourite Christmas movies.

Whether it be Home Alone, Elf, or my personal favourite, It’s a Wonderful Life, we all have that personal festive film that gets them in a wintery cosy mood.

For many, that film will be The Holiday.

The 2006 Nancy Meyers classic sees Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz star as Iris and Amanda, a pair of women who swap homes for two weeks at Christmas.

In the process, they each meet Graham and Miles, played by Jude Law and Jack Black and fall in love, despite the distance.

Despite a 51 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, movie fans do not agree with the grinchian film critics, as The Holiday has an 80 percent fan score on the site, and has an average score of 7.0 on IMDb.

Standing the test of time, it features on many people’s favourite Christmas film list, and yet – a new interview with Jude Law has several people saying the movie is ‘ruined’.

The Alfie star appeared on BBC Radio Two to be interviewed by Zoe Ball to discuss the festive film and new movie, The Order.

Cameron Diaz's character stays in a lovely cottage throughout The Holiday, which lead guest star Kerry Godliman to ask: “Can you Airbnb that cottage?”

She went on to call it her ‘dream home’, before Law ended that dream.

He responded, saying: “That cottage doesn’t exist.”

That sound you hear is 100s of hearts breaking all at once.

He went on to say: “So the director, she's a bit of a perfectionist, toured that whole area and didn't quite find the chocolate box cottage she was looking for.

“So she just hired a field and drew it and had someone build it. But here's the funny thing, if you watch it. So, we were shooting in the winter here.

“And every time I go in that door, we cut and we shot the interiors in LA about three months later.”

This led Kerry to jokingly beg him to stop, and Zoe adding: “We don’t want to hear anymore. We can’t bear it.”

The clip was posted to Instagram, with one comment saying: “And that’s how Jude Law stole Christmas.”

Another said: “This was totally disappointing. Oh dear”.

A third, however, had a beautifully positive spin on the reveal.

They commented: “I don’t mind this at all!!

“You see, for me I actually prefer that the cottage isn’t real and can’t be rented…I feel like it keeps it magical.”

I need a bit of this kind of positivity, because I personally was ready to cry.
