Zendaya and Robert Pattinson made headlines last December when the pair seemingly took out a full-page ad in a Boston newspaper for an ‘engagement announcement’ between them.
Appearing in the US newspaper The Boston Globe, it ended up being promo for their upcoming film The Drama in which the pair of celebrity actors will play a soon-to-be-married couple.
Zendaya and Pattinson are two of the biggest stars in the world and will appear in three major films together this year, also starring in Dune 3 and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
With the first full trailer releasing today (3 February), focus will shift away from the admittedly effective viral marketing tactic and towards the big secret at the centre of the film.

Zendaya and Pattinson play Emma Harwood and Charlie Thompson, a couple soon to be engaged when Charlie discovers a horrifying secret about Emma.
The trailer shows the moment immediately before and after she tells her friends and fiancé some bombshell information about her past, setting up the shocking reveal for the film itself.
It features Emma and Charlie going for dinner with two friends, played by Alana Haim and Mamoudou Athie, who suggest a game in which they all reveal the ‘worst thing they ever did’.
What the secret could be has dominated audience discussion around the trailer, with one comment on YouTube quoting the moment saying: "It got serious so f*cking fast” with crying emojis.
Another popular comment said: “Omg I'm sensing a HUGE plot twist.”

A third post from a fan replying to the trailer showed the reactions of the other characters, saying: “Yeah, I’ll definitely be watching. Need to know what she did that has everyone looking her like this.”
A tweet about the film referenced the now iconic Ayo Edebiri Instagram comment, saying: “I'm seated. The theater employees are scared and asking me to leave because it's ‘not released yet’ but I'm simply too seated.”
Pattinson and Zendaya clearly work together pretty well, with Pattinson having spoken about how the Spider-Man actress helped him during filming.

Speaking to Premiere, Pattinson spoke about filming The Drama, saying: “We had a scene together that was driving me crazy.
“I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing pages and pages of textual analysis.
“I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene.
“I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning.
“And there I was going crazy for three days.”
The Drama releases 3 April 2026.
