Chris Hansen has thrown down the gauntlet to Robert Pattinson to have a face-to-face chat after the British star recently played him in the movie Primetime.
Primetime, which releases in the UK later this month, sees the 40-year-old take on the role of the To Catch a Predator host.
The controversial reality show, which ran between 2004 and 2007, saw Hansen confronting alleged paedophiles who had been caught in sting operations set up by the show.
However, Hansen has been critical of the movie calling it an ‘insult’ to The Hollywood Reporter and a ‘completely made work of fiction’.

Speaking to Dan Abrams after watching the trailers for the movie, Hansen said: The conversations you heard in the trailer never took place in real life, and I was there.
“It’s way out there and not reflective of reality… it feels very exploitive to me. It feels sneaky and disingenuous to me.”
Now, Hansen has said he wants to sit down with Pattinson and talk to him about the movie.
Speaking on his Have a Seat with Chris Hansen podcast, he said: “You know, it dawned on me the other day that there’s a guy who has been asked a lot of questions about me, and I’ve been asked a lot of questions regarding him. And that guy is Robert Pattinson.
“Of course, you know he’s the actor who portrays me — or a character with my name, image, and likeness — in the movie Primetime. And I thought, wouldn’t it be great if Robert Pattinson would have a seat with me and talk about all of this?
“So this is an open invitation for Robert Pattinson to come on my show and talk about the movie, talk about his career. I know he’s a busy guy, I know I’m a busy guy, but Robert, come have a seat, anytime.”
He even offered to fly out to London where Pattinson is reportedly shooting the upcoming Batman flick.
In an interview with LADbible Pattinson explained that the movie isn’t a traditional biopic aiming to get into the psychology of a ‘real person’ but instead deals with the perception of the show.

Pattinson said: “I think when you watch the movie it’s not like you’re watching a guy, a human, you’re trying to do a portrait and you’re heightening some elements, and so hopefully when he watches it, if he watches it, he understands that.”
He also confirmed that he had no contact with Hansen since he publicly slammed the movie, but added: “I hope when he sees it he’s going to like it.”
He continued: “I think he’s someone who’s managed to ride… for doing something where you’re a reporter and I don’t think he’s ever had any intention of becoming the meme figure and to be able to navigate that is complicated in and of itself, and I think he’s done that with grace.
“The fact he’s still so culturally relevant 20 years after the original show, he knows how to move in these worlds… I think he understands the different amalgamations of your persona is an organic thing that keeps evolving.”
