Frankie Muniz says Bryan Cranston is working on a Malcolm in the Middle reboot

Hal always was a man of the people.

Everyone stop what you're doing and listen up: a Malcolm in the Middle reboot is apparently on the way.

Frankie Muniz has revealed the brilliant news in an interview with Fox News Digital.

The show's protagonist has opened up about how he's now finally watched the show that helped catapult him to stardom and that got him thinking.

"I would love to know what the family’s up to," the now 36-year-old actor said.

"I know Bryan Cranston is really into the idea and he’s kind of heading writing the script and getting everything rolling."

Okay, deep breathing everyone.

Muniz added: "So, there might be something. I would be down 100 per cent. But I don’t know - we’ll see what happens."

He might not have flat out confirmed a reboot is 100 per cent, without-a-doubt, happening, but we have our fingers and toes crossed.

Muniz also revealed that he's gone back to watch his past body of work as an adult.

He told Fox News Digital that it changed his whole perspective on his experience on Malcolm in the Middle.

"When I was filming the show, I obviously was a kid," Muniz said, who was 13 when the show began.

"We did seven seasons, 151 episodes. I didn’t really watch the show when it was on, but I’ve now since watched the show with my wife."

He added: "We [watched] all 151 episodes… I realised, 'Wow, that’s what we were making'... I can separate myself from being on it and watching it as a fan."

While fans wait for an official confirmation of a reboot with bated breath, it may be a little tricky to get some of the cast members on board.

Ever since the highly successful sitcom finished in 2006, the show's stars have continued to stay in the spotlight in some capacity.

But the same can't be said for Erik Per Sullivan, who portrayed Dewey, the youngest child of the infamous family.

Despite being a fan favourite character, the world hasn't heard much from the 31-year-old since the show's finale.

With so many people still calling out for updates about what he's up to now, one interviewer decided to ask Muniz if he could provide some insights - and he was more than happy to oblige.

"To be honest, I don't know what he's up to," Muniz explained.

"I hate to say that because I've talked to him a few times since the show ended."

Sullivan's Instagram account recently went viral as it showcased what he's been up to for all these years.

The 31-year-old only has 11 posts on his page and they're a mixture of pictures taken from his TV roles to more personal snaps.

He hasn't posted anything since April last year and Frankie suggested Sullivan might be done with the limelight.

"One thing I know, some actors or some people just got to do it when they were a kid and then they wanted to experience other things and kind of live a more normal life out of the spotlight," Muniz said.

"I think that's what he wanted to do so good for him."
