Woman's GTA 6 warning to all girls with boyfriends after discovering new storyline

A woman has taken to social media to share a worry about one of the features in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game, saying that she doesn't want her partner to play it.

The upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most hotly anticipated games out there, once again seeing players causing mayhem as those wanted stars rack up, and it wouldn't be a Grand Theft Auto game without controversy about its content.

TikToker Shelby Haas, who goes by the handle diaryofasalesgirl on the app, shared a video to her one million followers saying that one feature in the game has meant that she will not let her fiancée play it.

"In absolutely no human way is my fiancée playing GTA 6 after I just saw that you literally have to maintain a relationship with a girl in the video game and text her and she'll get mad if you don't text her back, and you have to take her on dates."

She went on to add that there is a 'nudist community' in the game, as well as 'strip clubs'.

"Don't let your boyfriend, or fiancée or husband play GTA 6," she added.

Previous titles in the series have themselves drawn concern about their violent content, as well as the inclusion of features such as strip clubs in gameplay, and given this video it seems that GTA 6 will be no different in that regard.

People took to the comments to share their thoughts on the video, with one being supportive of her message, writing: "Girl thank you for putting me on bc absolutely not".

But some people did not seem to share her worry, with one replying: "it’s just game .. are we that insecure???"

Another took a slightly different approach, pointing out that other games can also feature controversial behaviour, writing: "I do worse things in the sims."

And one woman shared that she was also looking forward to the upcoming game's release, replying: "Ima play it with him tho".

What Rockstar have said about the relationship mechanic

As for the mechanic itself, Rockstar North's head of development and co-studio head Rob Nelson explained to IGN that the mechanic with a relationship between two characters is optional.

"I have to say it feels great — if you are into it as a concept. Don’t bother with it if you aren’t. Up to you," he told the outlet.

He added: "The narrative is structured in such a way that the circumstances they find themselves in require them to stay together for most of the story and work together. At the very least they will get through most things as partners in crime."

Rockstar has been working on the game for some 13 years, with a preview revealing a dazzlingly complex map and myriad features for players to explore. After years of development and anticipation, the game is now scheduled to be released on 19 November 2026.

Netflix has confirmed that the extended look at the upcoming game drew in a huge amount of views for the streaming platform, racking up a whopping 31.1 million views, Gamespot reported.

Labelled an 'English-language film' by Netflix, the extended look ended up being the most-viewed in that category in 87 out of 93 regions that Netflix monitors, and being ahead of the second movie in that category by a considerable margin, with second place The Whisper Man having 23.2 million viewers - 7.9 million less than the GTA 6 preview.
