The suspense and anticipation for GTA 6 is so high, it might just have surpassed the excitement for any other game in history.
But while expectations for the video game are sky high, many have questioned whether GTA 6 will take the top spot of becoming the best game of all time.
Obviously it's subjective depending on who you ask, but most would currently regard fellow Rockstar title Red Dead Redemption 2 is being the current title holder, but which will be victorious?
Given the loftier rumoured price tag of $100, compared with RDR2's $60, it might be fair to assume that GTA 6 will have more to offer.

A fan recently took to Reddit to ask if others would be satisfied if GTA 6 was basically RDR2 'dressed with a modern setting' and the responses were interesting.

"When I say that I'm talking in terms of the movement, combat system, UI Interface, non-player character interactions, graphics, inventory/weapons system, clothing physics, the whole shebang that makes RDR2 great," they wrote.
"If all of that was incorporated into GTA 6 would that be a win for you or are you expecting and feeling as if you need more this time around?"
The general consensus was that while RDR2 is 'a spectacular benchmark for the gaming industry,' the time and expense being put into GTA 6 has fans expecting so much more.

"Consider this - It's Rockstar. They consistently push the boundaries of gaming and when you think about just how detailed RDR2 is, I think that level will be challenged with GTA 6," one fan wrote.
"I'm sure that elements we never considered may well be in the game. But one thing I really do hope for is a rich and deep storyline like we had in RDR2, but between Lucia and Jason and whoever else is involved."

Meanwhile, one Redditor was slightly more cautious in their expectations, citing the release of Cyberpunk 2077 which was 'expected to be the most defining and anticipated game in history.'
"It was only after release that news broke how rough the development was. And how heavy crunch and shifting goals really hurt the game," they wrote.

"Rockstar isn't infallible. RDR2's development was also said to involve heavy crunch and a fair amount of cut content. Rockstar may have been working on GTA 6 for seven years but that could also mean they prioritised the wrong stuff, or their heavy crunch burned out their best talent."
Despite having taken seven years, the good news is that the hotly anticipated game is currently expected to be delivered on time according to publisher Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick.

“My level of conviction is very, very high. Rockstar does have a lot of other things going on, but this is of course the primary focus,” he told CNBC.
“We try not to pump expectations, right? I think Rockstar’s whole stock and trade is to have these extraordinary expectations and still beat them. I know that’s their goal. I know it’s going to be an amazing game. The rest we’ll see in the fullness of time.”
