A Rockstar developer got into all kinds of adventures while spending two hours exploring the open world of GTA 6 on his way to a mission.
GTA 6 is getting tantalisingly closer and while we're all eager to dive into the story missions a huge part of the fun is all the bits in between where strange encounters or emergent problems can arise.
Anyone who has played these games knows how much a minor traffic accident can spiral as the wanted level climbs higher and the more you fight back the more law enforcement tries to bring the hammer down on you.
According to Bloomsberg one of Rockstar's senior developers, Phil Hooker, was playing a build of GTA 6 and spent two hours trying to get to a story mission while he sampled the delights of the game along the way.

To give you an idea of the game's scale and depth, Hooker had bumped into another car while on his way to the mission when he was rammed back in retaliation in an example of the gameplay you can expect.

Both drivers got out of the car to have a punch up without scratching the paintwork, and after throwing hands he wanted to top up his health so went into a nearby shop.
On the way there he got into a fight with another NPC after they insulted his character, and when there wasn't anyone at the shop's cash register to buy from he just robbed it instead.
This got the police on him and while he was escaping he switched cars, which is a handy way to get the police off your back in the games, and realised he'd stolen a pretty expensive car.
While looking for a place to sell it he followed another car to a criminal hideout and robbed them, selling his stolen goods for money and another tip of where to rob next.
Two hours of gameplay passed without him doing any of the game's missions, but Hooker was giddy from 'the sheer fun of it'.
If this is the scale of the game we're getting then it sounds like GTA fans are in for an absolute treat, there is so much to do and so much possibility that you could spend hours in the world doing things as they crop up without even touching the story missions.
As for the massive playground you'll be able to do all of this in, GTA 6 has the biggest world map of any of their games with the land in the game standing at 83.218km².
To put it into context, GTA 5 was 49.314km² so you will have a huge amount of space to explore and commit your various crimes in.
You'd hope that with 13 years since the last GTA game and eight since the last big Rockstar game in Red Dead Redemption II the developers have been cramming in all sorts of content for players to enjoy.
Hooker is one of the big three developers on the upcoming game alongside Rob Nelson and Aaron Garbut as they were responsible for figuring out what the new instalment in the series would be about and how they'd pull it off.

Rockstar have already teased some of the side activities you can get up to when they're not committing crimes or getting into a spiralling disaster that starts with you accidentally rear-ending another driver and ends with you robbing a gang blind.
In alphabetical order, the side activities Rockstar have teased for GTA 6 are: Air boating, base jumping, billiards, going to the gym, jet skiing, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, street and off-road racing, and zoos.
"This new world is different," Garbut said of just how much they wanted to pack into their biggest world ever.
"We obsessed about every part – the rooftops, the alleys, the internals and everything in between to the point we hit a critical mass with the numbers of our interiors, and you start to feel the buildings are more real inside and out.
"This world is a cohesive whole with the density of content and a hand-crafted quality to every bit."

Unfortunately for Rockstar there's a hacker called Cyberleek who claims to have got their hands on a development build of the game and is threatening to release it if there aren't physical copies of GTA 6.
Rockstar have said that leaks are 'not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time' and apologised for possible spoilers that might have been shared online.
Cyberleek is trying to sell a memecoin and claimed if it generates enough money they would start releasing more content, though they've still leaked GTA content despite it not hitting the goals they wanted.
In one of the leaks it appeared to show modded gameplay of Lucia, one of the game's protagonists, walking around naked in Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto VI will release on 19 November for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
