Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular gaming series to have ever been released, so it shouldn't come as a big surprise when we start getting rumours and leaks for the upcoming GTA 6.
As most gamers probably know, the GTA 6 story centres around a couple, Jason and Lucia. The pair have been described as a modern Bonnie and Clyde, with Rockstar even dropping some pretty obvious Bonnie and Clyde hints in the date reveal.
And of course, if you've ever read up on Bonnie and Clyde, you know it's probably not going to end well for them as they were shot to death by officers in an ambush in Louisiana.

But the latest GTA leak revealed that the story for GTA 6 could have been much darker had it not been for Take-Two scrapping it back in 2016.
The leak shows us that the original story for GTA 6 would have been a police/drug cartel crime story.
The story would have focused on an old cop, his drug addicted son, and the right-hand man of a Colombian drug lord.

According to the leak, the story would have followed the cop as he 'gradually descends into organized crime in a desperate effort to protect his son, who is struggling with drug addiction.'
Twitter account @GTAVI_Countdown, which shared details of the alleged scrapped storyline which was originally posted on Medium, explained: "A police crime plot worthy of a thriller that featured 3 protagonists: an old cop, his troubled son, and the right-hand man of Colombian drug lord.
"The cop is principled but he gradually descends into organized crime in a desperate effort to protect his son, who is struggling with drug addiction. The son, a devout Cuban-American trying to escape his addiction and the dangers of the drug trafficking world."
It continued: "The drug lord’s right-hand man imports narcotics into the US through Vice City, with ambitions to build his own empire in North America."
Allegedly, the story was scrapped in 2016 by Take-Two for being 'too dark' and has been replaced with the story we have now.

The leak also reveals that there were several rewrites, which apparently eventually led to ex Rockstar boss Dan Houser leaving the company.
Alas, for those that were hoping for a drug-fuelled dark GTA 6, it simply wasn't meant to be.
Instead, the company decided on a much less dark version of the game which follows our first GTA female protagonist, Lucia, and her partner Jason.

Coming out of prison, Lucia looks to build a new life with Jason, hoping to find a 'way out' as they take on Vice City together.
The rejected story isn't the only leak to make it to the spotlight recently.
Just last week we got GTA 6 rumours from a pretty credible source that the game will include 600+ enterable building, including skyscrapers with working lifts.

Other rumours and leaks have led us to the voices behind some of the stars of the game.
Not only did the recent rumour give us some pretty credible theories on who might be playing who in GTA 6, it also heavily suggests the game might see its first Hollywood actor in some time.
