The latest Guardians of the Galaxy movie is being called the ‘best Marvel film in years’, despite its Rotten Tomatoes score ranking it the lowest in the franchise.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sees Chris Pratt, Zoë Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillian, Pom Klementieff and Vin Diesel reunited for a mission that could possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

The film picks up where The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special left off, with Peter Quill (Pratt) still reeling from the loss of Gamora (Saldaña) while adjusting to his life on Knowhere.

Rocket's (Cooper) past resurfaces as the family of misfits begin their new life and, in order to protect him, Peter must lead the Guardians on a dangerous mission that could lead the team to dissolve.

After being released earlier this week, fans have flocked to the cinema to see what James Gunn has confirmed is the final film with the current line-up of the team.

And it seems the reaction is strong, with many saying it’s the 'best movie' they’ve seen from Marvel in a long time.

The film is out now.

This may come as a surprise to anyone who’s had a quick glance at how it’s doing on Rotten Tomatoes, where it currently has a score of 80 percent - the lowest out of the three films, with 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy at the top with 92 percent, and the second instalment with 85 percent.

But while the critics may not rate it as much as its predecessors, cinemagoers are won over, as evident from the 97 percent audience score.

For context, Volume 2 has an 87 percent audience score, while Volume 1 has 92 percent.

After seeing the flick on the big screen, one person tweeted: “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is easily the best movie Marvel have made in a while. It’s fun, action packed, emotional, shocking, a beautiful end to the last 9 years of the Guardians in the MCU. It’s got a good sense of goofy comedy while also being a very serious themed movie."

It has a 97 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Another agreed: “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is the best Marvel movie since Avengers: End Game.”

A third said: “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is the best Marvel Studios film since Guardians of The Galaxy 1. It really is a love letter to the first film and GOTG Vol 3 really is one of the best Marvel films in a very very long time. I’m really excited for his Superman.”

A fourth added: “I’m trying to be cautious bc I don’t want to do the annoying hyperbole thing buuuuttttt I do think Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is so damn good. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll have seen possibly the best Marvel movie?”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is out in cinemas now.
