Harry Potter Fans Sad After Making Realisation About Reunion Special

Harry Potter Fans Sad After Making Realisation About Reunion Special

Twitter users were quick to point out one fan favourite castmate will be missing for a very sad reason

Last month it was announced that all our childhood dreams are coming true – the cast of Harry Potter will reunite for a 20-year anniversary special.

Return to Hogwarts is set to grace our TV screens on New Year's Day and will feature all our favourite ex-castmates.

The first poster has only just been released, which pictures a very grown-up looking Daniel Radcliffe alongside pals Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

Of course, fans have been overcome with feelings of nostalgia and excitement however, some Twitter users have been quick to point out one very sad fact about the new TV special.

Alan Rickman, who played Professor Snape, sadly passed away during January 2016, so will be absent from the reunion.

Fans paid tribute to the late actor over on Twitter, as one said: “Alan Rickman will always be missed.”

Another wrote: “So sad Severus Snape aka THE Alan Rickman won't be there for the reunion just not the same.”

A third revealed their favourite Harry Potter scene as ‘when Harry found out Snape was a hero all along and all he did and sacrificed to protect Harry,’ - a scene we’re sure is etched into the memories of most Harry Potter fans.

Well, we’re feeling rather emotional.

Nevertheless, buzz around the reunion special is certainly growing.

One fan said: “I can’t explain how much this means to me as a long-time fan who grew up with Dan, Emma and Rupert when the films released.”

Another agreed: “This will be epic!!! So excited to see them all together again.”

Potter fans are now eagerly awaiting HBOmax to drop the trailer, as one Twitter user said ‘where’s the trailer you promised us?!?!’ following the release of the poster.

Although we don’t have all the details, we do know that the reunion special will give fans a new insight into how the original movies were made.

The cast are set to reunite on 1 January to celebrate the milestone anniversary of the release of the franchise's first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Joining them will be filmmaker Chris Columbus, who directed the first two entries in the franchise, along with a plethora of cast and crew members from across all eight Harry Potter films.

According to HBO Max, the feature will 'tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations'.

However, author of the books, J. K. Rowling, will play no part in the reunion following her recent controversial views on the transgender community.
