HBO has revealed that a whole new story is headed straight for Earth from the Big Bang Theory universe.

Show creator Chuck Lorre confirmed to Variety that the new comedy series is currently under the early stages of development.

The show will follow on from the original sin that was the Big Bang Theory and its other spin-off Young Sheldon.

Lorre confirmed the news at the Warner Bros. Discovery’s press day.

The day of entertainment media announcements and big reveals also brought an exciting update from HBO: They very own streaming service, Max.

The company has combined former channels HBO Max and Discovery+, with the duo giving birth to a channel that will be a mishmash of both parents.

During the Big Bang Theory's media update and presentation no plot details - or, really, any information - were given as the studio remains tight-lipped.

Variety reports that the spin-off is believed to be an hour-long episodic comedy series.

Fingers are now crossed as there is now a chance that fans will catch a glimpse of Big Bang's original stars in guest spots, allowing die-hard Big Bang Theory aficionados the chance to see what Leonard, Penny, and the whole gang are now up to.

The original series aired on CBS for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019 after years of ratings success.

The series finale boasted a whopping 18 million viewers in the US, Variety reports, pushing Lorre to create Young Sheldon in 2017 to continue momentum.

Young Sheldon is now in its sixth season with a seventh now confirmed, according to showbiz insiders.

Viewers celebrated and cried during the final episode for the long running sitcom as it came to the end of its 12 year run.

In the final episode, Amy and Sheldon find out they've won the Nobel Prize and the elevator was finally fixed.

Penny also revealed that she's expecting a baby with Leonard.

Sheldon drove a wedge between him and his pals but managed to heal the rift during an emotional speech while accepting his prize.

So all's well that ends well.

And who knows if we'll get a cheeky looksie at what happened to the gang after that.

But we hoped they kept reaching for the stars long after we left them.
