House of The Dragon trailer drops for future episodes after breathtakingly violent premiere

After the first episode hit our TV screens, HBO released a ‘Weeks Ahead Trailer’ to show what’s in store

A trailer has dropped for House of the Dragon’s upcoming episodes after a breathtakingly violent premiere left fans hungry for more. Watch it here:

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR HOUSE OF THE DRAGON EPISODE ONE

The first instalment of the Game of Thrones prequel series didn’t ease us in gently, that’s for sure.

From seeing someone’s penis being brutally hacked off to quite possibly the most traumatic birth scene television has ever seen, viewers were taken on a real emotional journey for round one – and it seems it has left people only excited for what’s to come.

After the season premiere, HBO released a ‘Weeks Ahead Trailer’ to show off what’s in store for the coming episodes.

“From my blood come the prince that was promised, and his will be the song of ice and fire,” a young Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) says at the beginning – something that die-hard fans will recognise as a reference to a prophecy not only featured in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books, but also from the Game of Thrones series.

Elsewhere in the teaser, Rhaenys (Eve Best) also warns Rhaenyra that men would ‘sooner put the realm to the torch’ then see ‘a woman ascend the throne’.

Of course, it’s going to take more than that to put Rhaenyra off, with Emma D’Arcy popping up as the grown-up version of the character to say defiantly: “I will be Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.”

Olivia Cooke, who plays an adult Alicent, then cuts in: “You may do as you wish... when I am cold in my grave.”

With all this conflict inevitably comes violence and death, with Ser Otto (Rhys Ifans) hinting at large-scale loss.

“No king that has ever lived that hasn’t had to forfeit the lives of a few to protect the many,” he says, with Daemon echoing this thread by saying ‘there will be blood’.

And then there are the DRAGONS – a whole fleet of them, in fact, with the show’s creators promising at least 17 beasts, compared to Daenerys’ three.

Here be dragons.

Writing about the new trailer, one viewer said excitedly: “The 1st ep felt like a movie, everything so well made and stunning! This show is gonna be epic!”

Someone else commented: “First episode killed it. I can tell this is going to be a great show. Can’t wait for more.”

A third agreed: “Episode 1 was epic and brutal, I'll be looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out.”

House of the Dragon will be available to watch weekly on HBO and HBO Max in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
