Jennifer Lawrence and husband have rule to ‘keep their marriage alive’

Jennifer Lawrence has lifted the lid on what she and her husband do to ‘keep their marriage alive’.

The Silver Linings Playbook star, 35, married Cooke Maroney, 40, in 2019 having kept their relationship as private as possible until that point.

During a recent episode of the SmartLess podcast - hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett - Lawrence said what it was like being married to the American art gallery director.

The mum-of-two said: “I married somebody who is the opposite of me. He is so organised. He’s an anchor. Everything is ordered like on the sink.

“I have to, you know, like keep the closet doors closed and I have like my little jobs that I work really hard to do.”

When asked about the things she struggles to do around the house, she admitted: “The schedule. I mean I get it now. I get it. But like they’re on a very strict schedule, you know? It's like breakfast 7.30… He does most of that.”

Agreeing that he is just better at 'keeping time', Lawrence added: “Well, he just keeps he’s good at keeping it. But we’ve learned to keep our marriage alive. I have a 15-minute wiggle room.”

Lawrence also admitted that she finds it 'so hot' when her hubby plays hockey in the house with their four-year-old.

"I mean, my husband played hockey growing up and it's so hot when they play hockey together like in the house. Like it truly turns me on," she said.

Previously, the actor said that it was a very easy decision to say 'yes' to Maroney when he proposed.

"Well, he's just the best person I've ever met in my whole life," she told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2021, Lawrence explained that she enjoys the little moments just as much as the big accolades.

The Academy Award winner said: "I really enjoy going to the grocery store with him.

"I don't know why, but it fills me with a lot of joy. I think maybe because it's almost a metaphor for marriage.

"'Okay, we've got this list. These are the things we need. Let's work together and get this done.'"

It comes after the couple made a rare appearance together at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, where her former co-star Leonardo DiCaprio made a bizarre gesture to a fellow guest.
