The Walking Dead actor is getting ready for his comeback as the notorious antihero alongside Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series.

It’s been four years since the actor graced the screen as Frankie Castle/The Punisher in his very own spin-off series.

According to The Direct, the actor is said to have a huge supporting role in the upcoming Marvel show, which has led him to undergo extensive firearm training.

Taran Tactical Innovations' Instagram account posted a video of their firing range in Simi Valley, California, where Jon tests out his skills.

And just to throw a spanner in the works, Bernthal is seen training alongside Thomas Jane, who played the vigilante in 2004's The Punisher.

Fans were delighted these two had joined each other for a little target practice.

One user wrote: “I know you couldn’t say it if it was happening, but I would DEFINITELY be interested in a Punisher(esque) movie with these two in it.”

Another said: “Freakin' awesome.. wish they could do a real multiverse Punisher movie with both of 'em.”

A third commented: “Please tell me Tom is coming back as frank someway somehow.”

While another user praised the two actors for raising awareness on how to safely handle firearms.

"Your work in educating Hollywood on firearms is truly impressive and commendable. Your efforts to increase awareness and understanding of the responsible use and portrayal of firearms in media is making a positive impact on society. Thank you for your dedication and hard work,” they wrote.

Shortly after Daredevil: Born Again was announced, many fans wondered if it meant that Berthnal would reprise his role.

In a 2021 interview with Forbes - before Berthnal's return was confirmed - Cox said he couldn’t imagine anyone else embodying Frank Castle.

“The only thing I'll say is I don't know who could do a better version of The Punisher than Jon Bernthal," he explained.

"And that character is beloved, people are crazy for Frank Castle.

"So if they're going to do it again, I hope they do it with him because I don't think it gets better than that."

According to APIT, Daredevil: Born Again is set to drop in early spring 2024.
