Katy Perry Leaves Huge Tip For Waitress Who 'Made A Fool Out Of Herself'

Katy Perry treated a waitress in Australia to a generous tip after she 'made a fool' of herself by failing to recognise the pop star.

Perry is currently spending time down under while her partner Orlando Bloom is shooting a film in Far North Queensland, and on Saturday, 18 June, she stopped in a cafe in Port Douglas where she was served by waitress Indianna Paull.

As many celebrities do while out in public, Perry somewhat concealed her identity by wearing a hat and sunglasses, but that didn't stop a number of people at the cafe recognising her. Unfortunately, Paull was not one of those people.

The waitress told Perry, who was holding her one-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, that she'd have to wait to be seated as there were no tables available.

Paull told Sunrise the singer 'handled it like any normal person would', even though Perry is likely used to getting a bit of special treatment.

"She was really nice the whole time and she handled it like a champ. I think partly because I didn’t recognise her was the reason she was so just so relaxed and chill about it," Paull said.

When Perry approached Paull for a second time, the waitress begrudgingly sat the star in part of the café that is not normally used.

She recalled: “I made a fool out of myself and said ‘for future reference, we don’t usually seat people in this table’.”

Perry is said to have promised the waitress she'd be 'extra kind', and it wasn't until Paull's manager alerted her to who the customer was that the waitress 'went red and went limp at the knees'.

“I probably didn’t need to, but I felt like a fool, so I went over to her table and apologised," Paull said. “I don’t know why, I just felt shocked that I had acted like she was a casual Joe Blow!"

Paull said Perry was probably so desperate for a seat because 'people were running around taking photos of her', but the waitress was 'so oblivious' and 'had no idea' as to what was really going on.

Following Paull's initial embarrassment, the waitress said she 'couldn't believe how nice' the singer was and said she left a tip 'much more than the usual $2'.

“She asked for my name and had a conversation with me and as she left she walked through the café and gave me a hug and was just really nice to everyone. It was crazy," Paull said.

Paull also assured other reports that she had an 'argument' with Perry were untrue and that the story had been 'blown up' out of proportion.
