The first weekend of Coachella, or should I say Bieberchella, has been completed.
Easily the most hyped part of this year’s festival in California, Justin Bieber gave his first full public concert in nearly four years as he headlined on Saturday (11 April).
Singing new hits like ‘Yukon’ and taking us back in time with ‘Baby’, it seems his performance has caused a bit of a divide.
While plenty of fans loved seeing Bieber finally back on stage with his whopper catalogue of music bangers, others criticised the stripped-back performance.

Some branded it as a ‘mess’ with a big chunk of the show seeming to be his MacBook as he browsed YouTube.

During the performance, the 32-year-old told the crowd he wanted to take them ‘on a journey’ as he pulled up old clips of himself singing covers, his viral ‘standing on business’ paparazzi confrontation and even the ‘deez nuts’ Vine meme. He even took requests from fans watching on the livestream.
And iconically for fans, Bieber sang along to music videos of his older songs, like ‘Baby’, ‘Beauty and the Beat’ and ‘Never Say Never’.
At one point, Bieber even encountered buffering issues, saying, 'WiFI come on man' as the video for 'Sorry' got stuck.
Watching on in the crowd, Katy Perry had a hilarious reaction to him playing various videos.
Accompanied by her boyfriend Justin Trudeau, the ‘Dark Horse’ singer was vibing with Bieber’s set as they sang and danced along.
In one video she shared to her Instagram, it showed the Coachella headliner searching through YouTube before panning to Perry.
“Thank god he has Premium,” she can be heard saying, as she chews gum nonchalantly watching the stage before adding: “I don’t wanna see no ads.”

Some users on X joked that Perry was ‘out here saving the show with premium comedy’ while Bieber ‘really turned Coachella into his bedroom YouTube sesh’.
Meanwhile, some fans seemed disappointed in Bieber's approach to his set, as one wrote on social media: “Literally Justin Bieber brought a laptop to Coachella with the YouTube chat and his fans are deciding the SONGS.”
As another said: “100,000 people paid to watch a man browse his own channel.”
Singer/songwriter Zara Larsson said of Bieber's set: "It's giving let's smoke and watch YouTube."
However, others jumped to his defence, writing: “Oh no you didn’t understand nothinggg!!! For THE Justin Bieber to be fully himself, intimate and happy, it is everything. For fans to like ‘hang out with him’ is goooolldddd.”
LADbible reached out to Justin Bieber's representatives for comment.
As for Perry, she seemed to have a ball at the festival, sporting a printed T-shirt which read: “Pls do not give me a rip off your vape no matter what I say.”

Coachella 2026 food and drink prices
Coachella festivalgoers who paused for a soft drink or some fried chicken inbetween watching Justin Bieber, Karol G and Sabrina Carpenter ended up paying excruciating prices for it last weekend.
“Prices looking like it’s a nice day to fast,” wrote one music lover. “I’ll just eat thoughts and prayers,” said another.
Here’s what anyone entitled enough to want to eat and drink at Coachella ended up paying, thanks to screenshots posted by Californian estate agent James Suer on Instagram.
