Aside from being a Hollywood legend, Keanu Reeves is perhaps best known for simply being an all round great guy.

It feels as though everyone has a story about meeting the actor and him just being lovely – from giving his seat up on a train to buying an ice cream just so he could autograph a receipt for a fan.

Well, we've got another one for you.

Sharing their story to Reddit, a person recalled that their uncle once bumped into the John Wick star while at a restaurant in Los Angeles many years ago.

They explained that his grandmother was a huge fan and that his films gave her great comfort at some of the most difficult times of her life.

And when the star heard her story, he did what he always does.

The 'nicest man in Hollywood.

"My grandmother had a crush on Keanu Reeves because he reminded her of my grandfather when he was young – saw all his stuff, from Bill and Ted to The Matrix," they wrote.

"She had a stroke in her early 70s and was pretty much housebound for the last 10 years of her life, so watching movies was her main hobby, and became almost like friends to her because she so rarely got to see any of her own.

"Not too long after The Matrix came out my uncle was in LA for business and was eating at a really swanky restaurant when Keanu came in with a woman. When he finished his meal my uncle came up to their table and said, 'I don’t usually do this, but I just wanted you to know that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all of your movies. You remind her of my dad'.

"He said Keanu asked if he had a cell phone on him and when he confirmed that he did, he said, 'Give her a call, I want to talk to her'.

"He spoke with my grandmother for several minutes and it absolutely made her year. She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is."

The heartwarming story came as no surprise to fellow users, who have become accustomed to Reeves being a top bloke.

Commenting on the post, one user wrote: "Just when you think we've reached peak Keanu, he ascends even higher."

Echoing the love, another chipped in: "Oh my God, that is so sweet I actually got a little teary."

"It absolutely makes my day too, when I needed a little sunshine, but I'm also not even surprised," put a third. "Dude is just a solidly good man."

While another added: "I'm not crying. You're crying! This is so heartwarming!"

This story comes after the actor was spotted having a lengthy chat at an airport with a young fan, fielding a tonne of questions as well as signing autographs and posing for pictures.

TV producer Andrew Kimmel was on the same flight from London to New York City, and upon touching down in the Big Apple, he watched on in admiration as Reeves calmly responded to a barrage of questions from the eager fan.
