Emilia Clarke Confirms Game Of Thrones Sequel Series About Jon Snow Is Real

Emilia Clarke Confirms Game Of Thrones Sequel Series About Jon Snow Is Real

The actor who played Daenerys Targaryen also revealed whether she will be a part of the series.

Emilia Clarke has confirmed a spin-off Game of Thrones show starring Jon Snow is in the works.

While speaking with BBC News to promote her stage show The Seagull, the 35-year-old actor couldn’t dodge questions about the hugely speculated show.

When asked if she knew anything about the upcoming project, Clarke admitted: “He [Kit Harington] has told me about it. And I know it exists.

"It's happening."

She added: "It's been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he's in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington."

However, don’t get your hopes up that the actor will be reprising the role of the Queen of Dragons anytime soon.

When asked if she was tempted to return to the series that made her a household name, the actor responded: "No, I think I'm done.”

Rumours of a new series began circulating after The Hollywood Reporter claimed Harington would play the role of Jon Snow once again in a new Game of Thrones series at HBO.

It would be the first GoT series that has been announced that would be set after the events of the original TV series.

All we know of Snow is that he headed north beyond The Wall at the end of season 8 to hang out with the Wildlings.

There could be a whole host of problems, dramas, trials and tribulations for the character in the post-Westeros is burnt to the ground era.

And where there’s smoke, there’s fire, apparently.

Along with the untitled Jon Snow TV project, the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is also underway and scheduled to be released August 21.

The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 book, Fire & Blood, which is set 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones. It will star Paddy Considine as King Viserys I, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra, Viserys’ first child, and Doctor Who actor Matt Smith as Prince Daemon, Viserys’ younger brother.

Earlier this year, Matt Smith spoke with Comicbook, teasing the prequel while confirming it would be 'really different to the original'.

He said: "I mean it has to be. The original series was its own thing and it was, it was so brilliant and, and sort of left a mark in a way that it would be impossible to repeat. So, I don't know.

"The truth is I haven't seen any so it's difficult for me. Essentially it's in the same world, it has to take on a slightly different identity. But who knows? I have no idea."

George R.R. Martin, who has also been privy to rough cuts of some episodes, revealed via a blog post that he ‘loved them’.

"I hope you will like them as much as I do," he added.
