Jada Pinkett-Smith Never Wanted To Marry Will Smith In Resurfaced Clip

Jada Pinkett-Smith Never Wanted To Marry Will Smith In Resurfaced Clip

She claimed she was pressured into the marriage and 'cried the whole way' down the wedding aisle in the brutal resurfaced Red Table Talk.

A video of Jada Pinkett-Smith revealing she never wanted to marry Will Smith has resurfaced in the wake of the infamous Oscars moment.

The actor made the brutal confession during an episode of Red Table Talk back in 2018, adding that she felt pressured into marrying the King Richard star.

She said she cried 'all the way' down the wedding aisle to tie the knot and only went ahead with it as she was pregnant with their oldest child, Jaden.

"I really didn’t want to get married...I didn’t want a wedding either," she said in the 2018 video.

"I was under so much pressure. Being a young actress, being young and pregnant. I didn’t know what to do, but I knew I never wanted to be married."

Her now-husband also appeared in the clip, completely aware of his wife's cold feet prior to saying 'I do'.

“We only got married because Gammy (Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris) was crying," he said.

Despite their 1997 wedding looking like a dreamy day for the loved-up couple, Jada’s mother, described the nuptials as a disaster.

“The wedding was horrible. It was a mess," Banfield-Norris said. "Jada was sick, she was very unpleasant. She didn’t cooperate with anything.”

Jada then slipped in a savage confession.

"I was so upset that I had to have a wedding. I was so p****ed," she said. "I went crying down the freaking aisle. I cried the whole way.”

She did elaborate on her feelings, adding: “I didn’t want to get married and now Gammy’s gone running to Will, crying about how I don’t want to have a wedding.

"Now I’m being forced to have a wedding, when really I just wanted it to be the two of us [her and Will] on a mountain, because this is serious business."

Despite her wedding jitters, Will said he couldn't have been happier with the day.

"There wasn’t a day in my life that I wanted anything other than being married and having a family," he said.

"From literally five years old, I was picturing what my family would be."

Despite their wedding disaster, the couple said yes and have now been married for 24 years and share three children - Jaden, 23, Willow, 21, and Trey, 29, from Will's first marriage to actress Sheree Zampino.

The family are well known for being open about their personal lives.

In 2020, Jada admitted to having an affair with 29-year-old singer August Alsina in 2020, something she described as an ‘entanglement’

The couple have since revealed they have an open marriage.
