Miles Teller Reveals Jet Fuel Was Found In His Bloodstream While Filming Top Gun: Maverick

Miles Teller revealed he literally found jet fuel in his blood while filming his latest flick Top Gun: Maverick.

There’s committed actors, and then there’s Miles Teller.

While speaking with Seth Meyers on his late night TV talkshow, The Spectacular Now actor disclosed he had an extreme allergic reaction on set, which led him to discover jet fuel had entered his bloodstream.

The actor shared his tumultuous experience while flying fighter jets when he began to break out in hives ‘head to toe’ on set.

He said: “I was really hot and I just started itching like crazy. So I got out of the jet.

"I’m just covered in hives. Head to toe. I go to a doctor. I do a blood analysis. I’m in an oatmeal bath that night.”

Surely an oatmeal bath will be the next self-care trend set to take the wellness industry by storm.

After receiving the actor’s results, doctors found ‘flame-retardant, pesticide, and jet fuel’ in his blood.

Teller admits that while he was initially alarmed, he concluded that his medical diagnosis was very ‘cool’ and had to tell his co-star.

He said: “So I head to set the next day, and Tom [Cruise] was like, ‘So how did it go, Miles? What did they find?’ I was like, ‘Well Tom, it turns out I have jet fuel in my blood'."

Teller added: “Without skipping a beat, he [Cruise] goes ‘Yeah, I was born with it, kid’”.

Well, it’s no wonder Cruise does all his own stunts.

The Whiplash actor also spoke to Techradar about the gruelling preparation needed to fly in some of the jets needed for the film.

Despite undergoing dramatic physical transformations for other roles, Teller admits that Top Gun: Maverick was in a league of its own.

Teller said: “On Bleed for This, I lost probably 20 pounds and the training for that was also really intense.

"But with Top Gun, the difficulty really was just how long it all was – because we flew for about four months before we started filming.”

He also revealed that one of his cast members particularly struggled with the aviation ‘puking’ almost every time he entered the jet.

While Teller wouldn’t reveal his identity, we just hope for their sake there was a bucket close to the cockpit.
