Laura Whitmore Says Love Island Villa Stinks Of 'BO And Lynx Africa'

Laura Whitmore Says Love Island Villa Stinks Of 'BO And Lynx Africa'

The show is back for its eighth season and the host has let some secrets slip

Love Island host Laura Whitmore has revealed things are quite whiffy inside the famous villa.

The popular dating reality show, which is filmed in Mallorca, is back for its eighth season with a new gang of beautiful single people hoping to find love, or get their hands on the £50,000 top prize.

But while the contestants may look gorgeous, they apparently smell a bit… erm… grim, apparently.

Speaking on Alan Carr's Life's a Beach podcast, Whitmore let slip that the odour in the villa isn’t particularly nice.

They might look good, but the smell inside the villa is less than desirable.

She said: "It smells so bad. If you think about it, that amount of people - like about 40 or 50 islanders go through it throughout the whole summer - it starts off at about 10 or 12 or whatever and then more keep going in...

"And they're like 18-year-olds - the carpet, the fake tan, the makeup, the BO - it stinks!"

Whitmore then revealed that in an attempt to mask the smell, the contestants employ a trick used in PE changing rooms across the land - a heavy dose of Lynx Africa.

"Lynx Africa like when they try to cover the BO - that's what it smells like,” she revealed. Lovely.

Among those stuck breathing in that interesting combo of fake tan, BO and Lynx Africa is Gemma Owen, the daughter of former England footballer Michael Owen

Since the show kicked off, Owen has become the target of trolls who have made disgusting comments online.

Over the weekend, Michael Owen took no time at all calling out a man after he made a crude comment about her on social media.

In a since-deleted tweet, the bloke – who had been working as a football coach – wrote: in a now-deleted tweet: "Can't wait to see her getting smashed," alongside a series of laughing emojis.

19-year-old Gemma Owen kissed Davide Sanclimenti, 27, much to the dislike of many viewers.

In response, the former footballer wrote: "What a fine example to set from a man in your responsible position."

Some critics have claimed that 19-year-old Gemma is too young for the show, with some viewers even threatening to call Ofcom after she kissed 27-year-old Davide.

However, her dad defended her age, pointing out he was also building his career from a young age.

He told the Daily Mail: "She’s a mature 19. She’s a bit like me in that regard. I was playing for Liverpool when I was 17, and having to make friends with 23, 24, 25-year-olds.

"The bottom line is, she’s an adult and I have to trust her to make sensible decisions."
